The Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition is the first Redmi Gaming Phone

Redmi has been hyping everyone up about their new gaming phone that they kept releasing teasers about it on Weibo. This new gaming phone has no name prior, but it seems that another teaser showed up on their Weibo confirming the name, that is, Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced. Underwhelming we know, as we sort of expected a new unit, not a unit that already existed.

That phone above is the Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition! It will launch in China on 27th April. This teaser also showed what the phone looks like. It appears that the phone will sport a triple camera setup, one of which could possibly be a 64mp sensor and two auxiliaries.

The phone also appears to have a side fingerprint scanner and a dedicated gaming slider that pops the shoulder pads and also activates the LED light located around the camera module when toggled.

In terms of specs, being a gaming phone, it is expected to be equipped with a SAMOLED E4 display with 144Hz refresh rate. In accordance to previous rumours, the phone is expected to be powered by Mediatek Dimensity 1200 5G processor. As for the battery, it has 5000mAh capacity coupled with fast 67W charging. The phone is expected to be priced lower than $400 (~20K php) making the K40 Gaming Enhanced edition the cheapest gaming smartphone available in the market currently.

We hope to see an international variant soon. Though it is no ROG Phone 5 nor Lenovo Legion Phone 2 Duel, we expect it to be competitive among the gaming handsets.
