Like it or not, but the mobile gaming scene is getting huge and is exploding with popularity. There are many handsets already made specifically for heavy gaming, the first being the Razer Phone, then followed by Black shark and others followed.

Currently, the latest gaming smartphone announced was the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2. As you may have heard, it snapped into two pieces, almost like a kitkat. However, despite the disappointing durability, it was a phone with a bizarre design, and is intended to be held horizontally rather than vertically, as most of its components are located at the side.

Xiaomi also released their latest gaming handset, the Xiaomi Black Shark 4, it is cheaper than its rivals Legion Phone Duel 2, Red Magic 6 and ROG Phone 5. However, it seems Xiaomi is not done with gaming handsets this year yet, as its budget arm, Redmi, is also introducing their own gaming phone.

Redmi recently posted these on their Weibo account:

Alongside the announcement of the Redmi gaming phone, the company also announced their partnership with Call of Duty Mobile. As leaks mentioned before, the phone was rumoured to have a Mediatek Dimensity 1200 5G chipset. This chipset rivals the Snapdragon 865 and 870 in terms of performance. It also comes with model number “M2104K10C” and codename “Ares”

Redmi announced that this phone is going to be released at the end of April this year. Other credible leaks suggest that the phone will come with a 5000mAh battery with 65W fast charging, along with Samsung’s E4 SAMOLED display. The refresh rate is rumoured to be 144Hz, and the phone was also said to come with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Shoulder triggers should also be expected as it is common among gaming phones.

We’ll be waiting for Xiaomi to release new sneak peeks, as well as its official unveiling.
