DZMM TeleRadyo will sign off permanently on June 30

ABS-CBN’s financial situation could not hold on to the radio news any longer

ABS-CBN announced that its longtime radio news division, DZMM TeleRadyo, will officially cease operations on 30th June due to financial losses.

The radio programme has been experiencing losses for the company since 2020 and has been on life support ever since. To prevent any more losses, ABS-CBN decided to shut it down completely and no more new broadcasts would commence.

ANC, the company’s flagship news programme, will continue running business as usual. In related developments, ABS-CBN has entered a joint venture with Prime Media Holdings as a minority stockholder.

On 5 May 2020, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a cease and desist order for ABS-CBN and required ABS-CBN to stop airing its television and radio broadcasts due to the “absence of valid Congressional Franchise required by Law”. Since then, the company has shifted focus from television programs to content creation via the Internet.
