An HONORific comeback awaits! Now with Google services.
After Huawei’s grand total of inexistence thanks to the US trade ban, Honor, a Huawei subsidiary at the time, was also heavily affected. Because of that, they also lost access to Google services and other western tech. Two years ago, just a few months after the ban, Huawei sold off Honor so that they could operate independently and will no longer be affected by the ban. After the announcement of the Honor 50 series, the company marked an epic comeback. The company can access Google Services and tap onto Qualcomm chipsets once again, and in 2021, quickly become the third largest manufacturer in its home country. Now, it’s awaiting its glorious return to the Philippines.
An event will be held on September 27 to mark this great return. Before that, what devices or phones should you expect to see during the event? Let’s have them listed below.
HONOR X7, X8, and X9
The X series serves as Honor’s mainstream line and its design is taken directly from Huawei. These three phones are the X7, X8, and X9. They offer elegant designs, large displays, and similar specs.
Starting with the Honor X9, its design heavily resembles that of the flagship Mate 40 series. It is a tall phone, sporting a 6.81in. screen with a FullHD+ (2388x1080px) resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. Honor reported 16.7 million colours too.
Inside it is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset. The most obvious chipset to use for the class. This is paired with 8GB RAM (+2GB Virtual) and 128GB internal storage with access to MicroSD card expansion. It comes with a moderately-sized 4800mAh battery with 66W of fast charging.
There are four cameras at the back aligned similarly to the Mate 40 series. The main camera is a 64MP sensor, f/1.8. The secondary camera is the 8MP ultrawide, f/2.2, and finally, the tertiary and quaternary cameras are the useless 2MP depth and macro cameras, both with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera sits in the middle of the display on a dot notch. it has 16MP resolution.
It comes with 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, and USB-C. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It lacks a headphone jack. Price is to be determined soon. It has two colours. Titanium Silver and Midnight Black.
By default it launches with MagicUI 4.2 that unfortunately only comes with Android 11. We presume Honor can make this phone upgradeable to Android 12 or comes with Android 12 once it hits the Philippines. That’s on September 27th.

Next up is the HONOR X8. it features a design similar to the Nova 9Z and just like the rest of the series, focuses on its elegant design and huge display. It has a 6.7in. FHD+ (2388x1080px) IPS LCD screen with 90Hz refresh rate like the X9.
Inside it is again, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Both of these can be expanded. It also has a quad camera setup. This is the same setup as the X9 but the secondary camera has been downgraded to just 5MP. Something tells me Honor really just wants you to buy any of the three phones based on its design. It also has a 16MP dot notch camera like the X9.
It is powered by a 4000mAh battery with 22.5W of fast charging on a USB-C port. It comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and 4G LTE. It has a headphone jack unlike the X9 so you can easily charge it while listening to music at the same time.
Price is yet to be revealed. It comes in Titanium Silver, Midnight Black, and Ocean Blue.

Unlike the latter two, the Honor X7 features a dewdrop notch and a weaker screen but nonetheless it has similar specs as the other two.
The phone features a 6.7in. HD+ (1600x720px) IPS LCD screen but it lacks a high refresh rate. Still, it is using the same Snapdragon 680 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
It comes with four cameras as well. The main camera now only has 48MP, f/1.8 resolution. The other three (5MP+2MP+2MP) were left intact. This phone is the oldest among the three so there are improvements to be seen with the X8 and X9. It also has a much weaker 8MP camera to boot.
It has a 5000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging. It has a USB-C port, 4G LTE, Dual Nano-SIM slot, Dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, a 3.5mm jack (finally), and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It boots up with MagicUI 4.2 based on Android 11 unfortunately.
Price is to be revealed during the event. It comes in Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, and Titanium Silver.

HONOR Magic4 Pro
When the event does finally arrive, the Magic4 series is probably going to be the main highlight given its flagship status. Particularly, the Magic4 Pro may arrive in the Philippines along with the base Magic4.
The phone is constantly teased on HiHonor’s Facebook page. They never state which “Magic” phone, but we have guessed highly it’s the Magic4 series. If that isn’t obvious.
The design at the rear reminds us of the Mate 40 once again thanks to the iconic rounded camera hump. It is also big, featuring a 6.81in. FHD+ (2848x1312px) curved LTPO OLED screen with 1.07 billion colours and IMAX Enhanced Certified HDR10+ display. It also has a variable 120Hz refresh rate with its own display chipset to further enhance the colours and make it vibrant. Also, as a flagship, it is IP68 rated so if you accidentally drop it, you’re worry-free.
Inside is the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, yes the one made by Samsung. This is a 4nm chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM. Did we also mention it comes with a VC cooling plate so that it won’t run hot? As hot as how Samsung makes their own chipsets?
The phone comes with a rare quintuple camera setup. Something we’ve last seen on the Nokia 9 Pureview. You get the usual stuff, such as the 50MP main lens with OIS, 1/1.56″ lens size and f/1.8 aperture, another 50MP for the ultrawide with a 122° field of view and f/2.2 aperture, as well as the 64MP telephoto with 100x digital zoom, but the other two include the flicker sensor whose goal is to reduce banding. The other sensor is the 3D Time-of-Flight (TOF) sensor with laser autofocus for ultra-fast focusing time. In a way, this is a better version of the useless depth sensor.
The front camera sits on a dot notch. It comes with 12MP resolution (f/2.4, with 4K video shooting) aided by a 3D depth sensor.
For biometrics, you get not the usual face unlock, but the AI-assisted FaceID first seen on Apple devices. Android has no universal term for it so we’ll just call it that. In addition, it comes with the upgraded version of an in-display fingerprint scanner called the Ultrasonic Fingerprint scanner which has a very very fast response.
It comes with a 4500mAh battery paired with an ultra-fast 100W fast charging. The phone comes with Google services and launches with MagicUI 6 based on Android 12. It also has stereo speakers, DTS:X support, Hi-Res audio, Qualcomm aptX and aptX HD, and a lack of a headphone jack (shame). It comes in Cyan, Gold, and Black.
While no prices have been announced yet, expect it to be in the flagship range. Also, it is to be unveiled this Tuesday, 27th September in the Philippines.

HONOR Band 6
The Honor Band 6 is a smartwatch/smart band hybrid. It is listed on Honor Philippines’ website so there is a highly likely chance it would show up during the event.
The smartwatch comes with a curved 1.74in. AMOLED screen for accurate colour reproduction. It comes with narrow bezels and heavily resembles that of the latest Apple Watches. According to Honor, this gives 148% more screen than traditional health trackers.
The watch comes with a unique red line button and the Honor logo is embedded on the other side. The strap also comes in three colours which are Meteorite Black, Sandstone Grey, and Coral Pink. The pastel and matte colour makes it soft and easy for the eyes as well as gives the premium look and feel. It also has several watch faces to choose from to suit your personality.
According to Honor, the band can last up to 14 days on regular usage, and 10 days on heavy usage. It can charge its empty battery to full in just 10 minutes. As a health tracker, it comes with the usual sensors, such as the Blood-Oxygen sensor, Heart Rate monitor, and Sleep monitor. The latter is called TruSleep which precisely tracks your sleep record.
It has over 95 workout modes which also includes 10 professional workout modes so that you can freely choose the exercise that best fits your style and situation. The Honor Band 6 will precisely record all of the physical exercises and activities you choose. The watch can also automatically detect the workout mode based on the activity you’re currently doing.
In addition to health features, the band also has playback controls and will notify you of incoming calls and messages received. It is also convenient in a way that it can also help track your phone and, if connected with your Honor phone, the red line button can also serve as a shutter.
There is no word yet for price in the Philippines.
Let’s wait until the event unfolds. But we are sure all of these are going to arrive here during the event.
