Nothing changed. Well, except for the name.
Cherry has released yet another smartphone. Well, it’s not exactly “new” since the phone is already quite familiar to Cherry loyalists. The Aqua S10 Lite is exactly the Flare S8 Lite, even keeping the same chipset and dated Android 9.0 Pie. On the bright side, it’s very affordable so we could not really complain about why they have re-released it. Perhaps the company still has stocks of Flare S8 Lite left, or it’s maybe due to the chipset shortage. Whatever the cause may be, it is still a handy affordable smartphone for users who needed just calls and texts.
To recall, the Flare S8 Lite (now Aqua S10 Lite) is a compact phone sporting a 5.71″ HD+ (1612x720px) IPS LCD screen. Inside is the outdated Mediatek Helio P23 chipset paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen this configuration, and certainly, it won’t be enough these days even for the very casual user. Most Android Go phones now carry at least 32GB storage. We don’t know how many apps you can add there with such a cramped space, plus it runs a regular version of Android Pie which already fills the storage way too much. On the bright side, it has a MicroSD card slot that can accommodate up to 128GB of storage.
It has an 8mp+2mp dual camera combo at the back plus a single 5mp front camera sitting on a waterdrop notch. Inside is a 2500mAh removable battery charged via MicroUSB. While it does not have a fingerprint scanner (not that we expect it at its price), it does have support for facial unlock. It comes in a Blue colour option. Its affordable price of Php 3,000 is why we couldn’t really see much to complain about. But we have to let our fellow technophiles know that, if they own a Flare S8 Lite, the Aqua S10 Lite is exactly the same.
