Infinix sets to roll out a phone with Helio G99 first.

The chipset was launched alongside the Dimensity 1050 and Dimensity 930.

Infinix, a Hong Kong-based smartphone manufacturer is set to make the world’s first-ever phone running a Mediatek Helio G99 chipset. While the company announced it would be part of the Note 12 series, the company did not specify which one.

The Helio G99 chipset is an improvement over the Helio G96. It is basically Mediatek’s belated answer to the popular Snapdragon 680. Like it, the G99 is based on a 6nm process but fabricated at TSMC, so performance should be better than the latter. It comes with UFS 2.2 storage and LPDDR4X RAM support, an octa-core CPU consisting of two Cortex A-76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, and six Cortex A-55 efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It is complemented by a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It has no 5G services, being part of the Helio series and all.

No release date yet has been announced.
