The Vivo X80 series is now in the Philippines! Zeiss cameras and a dedicated V1+ imaging chip starting at Php 45,999

Flagship all the way!

Vivo has officially brought the camera-centric flagship co-engineered with Zeiss, the Vivo X80 series. This is right after the surprisingly decent bang-for-buck T1 5G, a phone centered on gaming at an affordable price. We say so because other phones with a Snapdragon 778G sell for more. This includes the Mi 11 Lite New Edition.

Going back to the X80 series, there are two. The X80 and X80 Pro. They both share nearly identical internals, so we’ll keep it simple. We already covered both in another dedicated article, although that’s for the Chinese release.

Vivo X80

The main phone uses a Samsung E5 AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Also, it carries the Mediatek Dimensity 9000, Mediatek’s most powerful chipset that put the Vivo X80 rightfully in its place in the top charts for benchmarks, particularly AnTuTu.

The cameras are the main focal point (no pun intended) of the phone. It is Zeiss coated. The main lens is a 50MP Sony IMX866 sensor paired with two 12mp Sony IMX663 cameras. The first is an ultrawide camera and the other a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. The front camera is a 32mp sensor.

The battery is 4500mAh and comes with a very fast 80W fast charging. For a battery this size, this actually is ultra-fast. It may not be 120W, but also it isn’t 18W either, so there is that.

Internationally and in the Philippines, it boots with FunTouch OS 12 based on Android 12. Unlike the Pro variant, the phone has no IP rating. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor, USB-C, 5G, Wi-Fi 6/6E capabilities, and Bluetooth 5.2. It comes in Cosmic Black and Urban Blue.

It sells for Php 45,999 and comes with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 flash memory which makes for ultra-fast read and write times.

Vivo X80 Pro

The main star of the series. It introduces the V1+ imaging chip manufactured by Vivo itself. This improves your camera game through AI recognition and processing of the scene, in addition to what the chipset inside, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, can do.

It comes with a 6.78in. Samsung E5 LTPO3 AMOLED, which means it has a higher resolution than the latter phone. The resolution is Quad HD+ (3200x1440px). It also comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The resolution makes for the crispiest text and nearly pixel-free image viewing and an immersive movie and video experience.

Again, like the latter phone, the cameras are the reason why you want to purchase this (or so we believe). It has a flagship Samsung ISOCELL GNV camera, also at 50MP resolution. We usually take Samsung in a bad light, but since this is a flagship, it might be really promising. This is paired with a 48MP Sony IMX598 ultrawide camera, a 12mp Sony IMX663 telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom and gimbal OIS as well as an 8mp periscope camera also with OIS. The front camera is a 32mp sensor. Like the latter phone, it comes with ZEISS software improvements in its native camera app such as ZEISS Cinematic Video Bokeh, ZEISS Cinematic Video Style, and AI Video enhancement.

The battery comes with all sorts of things you expect from an “ultra” flagship. It retains the same 80W charging rate but also the battery is slightly larger (4,700mAh) and there’s also support for a fast 50W wireless charging in case you do charge your phone that way. Like every new Vivo phone that isn’t in the budget category, it launches with Android 12 with FunTouchOS 12 on top

Like with every flagship nowadays, it does not come with a headphone jack, instead, in its place, are stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio, and improvements to wireless sound.

As an ultra flagship, it has an IP68 water/dust resistance rating, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor with a large covering area, Wi-Fi 6/6E capabilities, 5G, and Bluetooth 5.2. All the latest tech you can ever insert onto a smartphone. It comes in Cosmic Black and would cost you Php 59,999 for the 12/256 variant. This price is enough for you to purchase an entry-level DSLR if your only priorities are to take photos and videos.
