Grab Philippines Will Now Let You Hire Your Own Driver!

Nah, I’d drive (2011).

There are times when we just don’t want to drive our cars but also don’t want to use public transportation due to the hassle. There are also times when car-hailing can take forever to do, so now Grab is offering Filipino drivers to have someone else drive their vehicles for them! Now you can start bragging to your friends about how rich you have become, in perspective!

These drivers are highly trained to ensure safety both for the owner and their car. Not just that, in case of any mishaps or accidents, Grab is also offering insurance premiums, up to 500K for Accidental Benefits, and 50K for vehicle coverage.

Under the program, customers can book the driver one day in advance so they can have time to communicate with them and prepare for the things needed. Just like with Grab’s ride-hailing service, the prices are fixed depending on the time needed to drive. Note that toll, gas, and parking fees are not included and are to be answered by the customer. Below are the charge rates:

  • 4 Hours – starts at PHP 890
  • 8 hours – PHP 1,490
  • 12 hours – PHP 1,990

You can also cancel the booking, for whatever reason. However, it has a PHP 200 penalty upon doing so and users can only cancel within 2 hours after the booking has started. Currently, this service is still being tested and therefore, only limited to users from Metro Manila.

To have Grab take the wheel for you, follow the steps below:

  • If you are within Metro Manila, from the homepage, you will find a banner labelled “Hire a driver to drive your car” under the “Car” category
  • Next, tap “Later” and choose a schedule you desire to book
  • Input your pick-up location
  • Select your preferred duration to which drivers will drive for you. They can be from 4 hours, 8 hours, and 12 hours (see rates above).
  • Before confirming, double-check your details if it’s correct then tap “Schedule Ride” to confirm.
  • If the app finds a driver, then you’re all set! All you have to do is wait and enjoy the ride.
