The Redmi 12 5G is Official in India!

Xiaomi announced a new addition to the Redmi series, the 5G version of the popular Redmi 12. It comes with a different design that fits right in the middle of the Redmi Notes and the regular Redmi phones. In a way, it reminds us of the Realme C55.

The phone is your basic 5G phone with a small catch! It’s the first phone to be equipped with the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. This chipset is designed for budget 5G phones and focuses mainly on the balance of performance and efficiency. It also comes with a yet-to-be-named Adreno GPU. In India, the phone has 4, 6, or 8GB RAM and a choice between 128 or 256GB storage. Virtual RAM and a MicroSD Card Slot are available too.

It has two cameras and the hump is absent. The cameras and the flash are arranged similarly to the iPhone 12. The primary camera is a 50MP sensor and the other is a depth for those portrait mode effects (which isn’t necessary since phones have powerful AI that makes just as good bokeh effects). There is an 8MP punch-hole camera too.

It has a 6.79″ FullHD+ (2400x1080px) IPS LCD screen with 90Hz refresh rate. It is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Better than nothing at least. It is also IP53-rated so it could withstand dusts and splashes.

As always, the 5000mAh battery is present alongside an 18W USB-C port. It has your basic mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G connectivity alongside 4G LTE, Dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.2.

Unlike flagship phones, this one has a 3.5mm jack. It also has a Dual NanoSIM slot, loudspeakers, and an IR Blaster.

It comes in Jade Black, Pastel Blue, and Moonlight Silver. It is available in India but we’re yet to wait for Xiaomi Philippines’ response.
