POVA 4 II. Yep, it’s a repeat but with a different glamour this time.

A few days ago, Tecno Philippines made the POVA 5 official via Shopee and Lazada. The phone is a budget-friendly gaming phone with a unique geometric design that continued since the POVA 4 series. The company mentioned that the POVA 5 Pro and POVA Neo 3 are also slated in the Philippines soon.

Like the POVA 4, the POVA 5 is equipped with everyone’s favourite chipset, the MediaTek Helio G99 so don’t expect 5G services here. It is a 6nm TSMC chipset designed to rival the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, its counterpart. Unlike the G95, the G99 is focused more on power efficiency than raw performance. The phone has 8GB RAM (with another 8GB virtual) and a choice between 128 or 256GB storage. It also has a MicroSD Card Slot.

The display is similar, if not identical, to the POVA 4. That is a 6.78″ FullHD+ (2400x1080px) IPS LCD with 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate.

The cameras are also similar. Tecno opted for a more cliche camera setup since the phone is intended for gamers, not for photographers (that’s the CAMON series’ speciality). Here, it’s a 50MP Primary + 2MP depth combo. The front features an 8MP punch-hole camera.

There is a 5000mAh battery inside complemented with a 45W USB-C port and 10W reverse charging. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm jack, a bottom-firing speaker, and 4G LTE services. It also has DTS Audio enhancement so that sounds are loud and clear.

The phone is available for PHP 7,999 (8/128) and PHP 8,499 (8/256) on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop. Though, third-party outlets like Rulls’, MemoXpress, and E-Phone may sell it physically, as well as Tecno’s own pop-up stores and kiosks nationwide.

Colours include Amber Gold, Mecha Black, and Hurricane Blue.
