The never-ending Helio G88 and G99.
This is the Redmi 12. Another phone in the sea of budget phones with the typical and predictable spec sheet you could have like a 90Hz FullHD+ screen and Helio G88 chipset. Hey, at least this one uses a glass back so it’s a premium “flagship-like” phone at a superior low cost.
Another sign of a typical budget phone is the 50MP primary camera paired with an 8MP ultrawide camera (what a surprise) and a 2MP macro. The front camera is sadly only 8MP. Gotta cut the budget somewhere so the glass would remain.
It also uses a 5000mAh battery charged via an 18W USB-C 2.0 port. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, apparently a large chin, a 3.5mm jack, and 4G LTE connectivity.
It is available first for Thailand users with a price of THB 5,299 (~PHP 8.3K) for the 8/128 trim. There’s also a 4/128 and 8/256 options but these were not announced yet. No word has been given either for the Philippine market.
