The Honor X8a is here! 100MP DSLR camera for 11K

That 100MP camera is actually capable for its asking price.

Honor did the HONORable thing. Introducing this phone on a yacht! If that isn’t a way to make the phone luxurious, I don’t know what is. Well, there’s a reason for that. The company is boasting the Honor X8a’s brilliant 100MP “DSLR-like” camera experience. A few of our colleagues tested that out, and with the magic of AI, the returning shots did feel like it was done using a professional (yet budget-oriented) camera.

As you can see from the above images, the Honor X8a’s camera is actually promising even at night. One would think it was taken from a more expensive phone but it’s only from a phone worth Php 11K. That’s something to think about how most phones are more than capable today.

Aside from the 100MP camera, what else is there to say about the phone? Above are the highlights. What we love is that it uses a punch hole notch so it looks more modern. Also, according to Honor, the 90Hz IPS LCD is edgeless and has a 93.6% screen-to-body ratio.

It has 8GB RAM with 128GB storage which is powered by a MediaTek Helio G88. For its 11K price, this is somewhat pricey. It also has a 4500mAh battery with 22.5W USB-C fast charging. The front camera has 16MP resolution. In all honesty, we’d rather have a somewhat pricey phone that is reliable and easy to repair, rather than a cheap phone with great specs but the parts are flawed and they are hard to repair. You’re going to invest in a phone anyway so it’s best to invest in a phone that lasts.

As it uses the Helio series, the phone skips out on 5G connectivity, so you’re limited to 4G LTE access. There’s Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6/6e, and NFC. It comes in three colours (the phone is made of plastic but mimics glass). Midnight Black, Titanium Silver, and Cyan Lake.

It is priced at Php 10,990. It is available via Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, and as well as Honor’s own brick-and-mortar stores and authorized retailers. As a bonus, during the pre-order stage which lasts until March 24th, you also get a FREE HONOR Earbuds worth Php 1,590. Sadly, the 6/128 variant will not be present, nothing has been announced from Honor.
