The Oppo Reno 8T 5G with 108MP Primary camera and a beautiful design is now available in the Philippines!

No ultrawide lol

A few weeks ago, Oppo teased the 5G version of the Reno 8T which sports a different design. In a way, it reminds us of handsets like the Huawei Nova 9 and the Nova Y90 thanks to the design of the rear camera hump. Smartphone designs overlap and there are instances where they could look like another manufacturer made them.

The main feature of this is the 108MP portrait camera which, if you’re a camera geek, is perfect to capture the smallest of details and allows more light to bind into the sensor so your photos are bright and sharp all the time. There are other things the phone has, such as its 3D curved FullHD+ AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate with a 93% screen-to-body ratio. It’s like a slab of screen with a camera.

Talking about the 108MP camera, Oppo has implemented an algorithm called NonaPlus Pixel binning which is similar to regular pixel binning methods. It is a 9-in-1 pixel binning technology to capture as much light as possible in this cramped space, as phones don’t have the sensors necessary as DSLRs and mirrorless ones have. By the way, the microscope mode famously seen on the Reno 8T 4G is also available here.

Oppo has a new term for the design, calling it “Dual Micro-curved design” which highlights aesthetics above all else. It flaunts a premium and attractive look that makes it look similar to a flagship at a quarter of the cost.

It uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset which makes it one of the most expensive phones to use the chipset. This is paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage plus Virtual RAM and MicroSD expansion respectively.

For a phone priced so expensively, you’re only getting the basic 108MP camera at the back and the two 2MP sensors. Also, the front camera has a resolution of 32MP. It also has dual view video as well so if you ever go ahead vlogging, this feature is quite useful.

It has a 4800mAh battery with 67W SuperVOOC fast charging. This battery capacity can last within two weeks on stand-by and if you’re ever out of juice, charge almost instantaneously with its rapid charging. Now, even if you forget to charge the phone at night, you don’t have to worry about it the next day, as it charges within 44 minutes from empty to full.

It has Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6/6e, and 5G services. It has two SIM Card slots and a MicroSD slot but it lacks a headphone jack. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner which was possible thanks to the AMOLED screen. It boots up with ColorOS 13 based on Android 13. Aside from the MicroSD slot, it also has the gimmicky Virtual RAM (up to 8GB).

Are you ready for the price? It comes in a hefty Php 23,999 price tag. Quite expensive for a phone that’s within the same range as the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. It comes in Sunrise Gold and Midnight Black.

You could find the phone practically anywhere including authorized resellers. Online, it’s exclusive to Shopee. It is also available in Oppo’s concept stores. You can also avail of a FREE Neon Island deskpad upon purchase of the phone. It will also be available through Smart through its Signature Plan 999 soon, stay tuned!
