You can now register your Globe SIM Card through the GlobeOne app

This makes the process way easier.

As part of the National SIM Registration Week Globe launch to encourage users to register their SIM Cards ASAP before the April 26th deadline, the company also announced that SIM Registration is now available via the GlobeOne app. This makes the process a lot easier than simply going to Globe’s SIM Registration site.

For those who have been living under a rock, back in October, the newly amended SIM Registration Act was announced and then signed by the President in November and then took effect in December. The main goal for this law was to combat text and phishing scams that had plagued Filipino SIM Cards for years now. While its effectiveness has been questioned, it has nevertheless had an effect in criminal activity.

Those who do not register will have to face their SIM Cards being deactivated.

These are the requirements:

  • Full legal name
  • Birthday
  • Sex
  • Address
  • Valid Government-issued IDs
  • Selfie photo with the ID present (max 4MB)

To register simply install and open the app then tap “Register your SIM” and then select the account you want to register or enter your mobile number. After filling out the necessary information, wait for a confirmation to let you know your number is registered.

In their social media pages, Globe is informing its users to stay vigilant as, ironically, even the SIM Registration Act can be abused by scammers. Never click on any suspicious links and always remember that you should not be charged for registering. Do not let someone else register for you. Scammers can use the information you filled in their deceptive forms online to steal your bank info, passwords, and other sensitive data.

To reiterate, the deadline is on April 26, 2023 and both the national government and Globe are encouraging everyone to register as soon as they can before the deadline.
