The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 is a Microsoft Surface for students

And maybe for broke people too

Microsoft Surface laptops are known to be quite the expense. Sure, some of us actually want one, but can a normal student afford it? Probably not. So Microsoft released a laptop exactly for students. It’s an ultrabook. Meaning it’s lightweight and easy to carry. This is the second edition of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go.

The laptop is advertised as sleek and portable. With a weight of just 1.12kg (including battery) and a width of just 15.7mm, this is likely true. It is a small 12″ laptop with a 3:2 aspect ratio coupled with HD+ resolution (1534x1024px). The laptop has a metallic-like frame and a polycarbonate body all around, similar to modern laptops. The screen has 10-point touch support.

Powering the laptop is the Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor complemented with Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. There are three combinations for the RAM and storage: 4/128, 8/128, and 8/256. Obviously, you would pick the latter.

In terms of security features, the laptop boasts Windows Hello. That means the laptop has a fingerprint scanner in addition to the usual password login. It is located on the power button. It launches with Windows 11 Home complemented with a one-month FREE subscription for Microsoft 365 Office Suite as well as a one-month trial for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate.

In terms of power, the battery inside is a 41WHr battery that could last up to 13.5h on typical usage, as claimed by Microsoft. It also comes with a 39W power supply adaptor. It has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.

In terms of its ports, you get 1x USB-C, 1x USB-A, 1x 3.5mm jack, and a single Surface connect port. This is as minimalist as it can get and honestly, the ports are somewhat lacking. It also comes with a 720p webcam. The speakers have support for Dolby Audio Premium.

It comes in Sage, Ice Blue, Sandstone, and Platinum colours. The 4/128 option starts at USD 599.99 (~Php 31.7K)
