The Tecno Pova 3 is a phone with a huge battery! 7000mAh of non-stop gaming.

And the original POVA got 6000mAh. This phone is going to last even longer. That’s a tablet-sized battery!

The POVA series from Tecno is all about battery, and the POVA 3 just proves this prowess by harnessing a 7000mAh battery. A typical smartphone only has 5000mAh! This is endurance we don’t even see on flagships!

The phone is a significant upgrade to the POVA 2, coming with a different design. The phone has the appearance of more expensive gaming phones and indeed it is designed with budget gamers in mind, so this design reflects that.

It has a tall 6.9in. FHD+ (2460x1080px) IPS LCD screen with 180Hz touch sampling rate. One downside of this phone compared to others is the lack of a high refresh rate. This could steer away budget gamers who are playing intense and fast-paced games.

Inside it is the Mediatek Helio G88 which is a decent chipset, although they could have gone up a notch if they went for something like the Helio G90T or the Helio G96. Still, this chipset isn’t a terrible choice given the price it offers. It is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage that can further be expanded with a MicroSD card slot of up to 512GB. It has a built-in graphite cooling plate just in case your phone goes haywire.

There are three cameras. They are the usual flavours. A single 50MP main camera with two auxiliaries. The front camera sits on top of the screen and has a resolution of 8MP.

The phone has improved haptics thanks to the X-Axis Linear Motor inside that helps with continuously smooth typing and moving around, especially with shooter games. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and Bluetooth 5.0 at the ready. It also has a USB-C port, 3.5mm jack, Dual-band Wi-Fi, and 4G LTE services.

Now let’s go back to the main highlight of this phone, the large battery (and yes, we really mean LARGE). The phone, as we mentioned, carries a 7000mAh battery which Tecno claims could last up to 8 hours straight gaming, 50 hours of music, and more than 20 hours of YouTube video playback. These numbers are outstanding for a phone of its price and the battery this large, especially if the UI and chipset are highly optimized. These are theoretical and the actual battery usage still depends on the person using the phone. The included charger is 33W but the phone, disappointingly, only supports up to 25W, those 8W lost are still significant in helping the phone charge faster so we’re not sure why Tecno decided to limit it.

The phone is available starting 25th May on Lazada with a price of Php 8,999 for the Eco Black and Tech Silver colours. The signature Electric Blue would cost you Php 9,399 with the same amount of RAM and storage, making the Pova 3 one of the few phones on the market to be priced based on its colours.

Be mindful of this “preheating prize” Tecno is launching for their users. Users can collect a Php400 voucher to be used as a discount for the POVA 3. Be quick as there are only 150 pieces and that’s limited. There’s also a Php200 voucher that’s limited to the first 100 users who can claim it. Only one of each voucher can be used as discount.

On the actual debut, users can also claim FREE Tecno Buds 2 earphones.
