Rumor Mill: The Poco X4 Pro 5G is just the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G

What’s with Xiaomi lately? Confusing and repeating devices all year?

Xiaomi has a tendency to rerelease devices, rename them, and maybe change their spec sheet slightly, and then call it new. Not even Apple is this repetitive with their phones. Imagine if Apple rereleased the iPhone 7 Plus as the “iPhone SE 2022”, there would be even bigger issues than compared to Xiaomi. This happens time and time again. For instance, the Redmi Note 10 Lite is identically just the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Not even a difference in the specs. It’s really the same phone for a slightly more expensive price.

A Xiaomi device with model number 2201116PG was spotted online. It has first surfaced at the IMEI database back in November, and later, at a Malaysian certificate site and the FCC. There’s also the Indian variant with model number 2201116PI. These two devices are said to be the upcoming Poco X4 units, which are literally just renamed Redmi Note 11 Pro and Pro 5G units that are coming globally. And no, this isn’t the Chinese variant of the Redmi Note 11 series sadly.

To recap, the Redmi Note 11 Pro and Pro 5G are highly identical devices apart from their processor. The regular Redmi Note 11 Pro has no 5G services and uses a Mediatek Helio G96 processor while the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G uses the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor. One criticism the global versions have is their inferiority to their Chinese variants which use a Dimensity 810 and Dimensity 920 respectively. Both of these perform a lot better than their global counterparts and both also have 5G capabilities. Another criticism is the lack of 4K video, which can be attributed to the Snapdragon 695’s lack of support for it. Both devices have a 108mp main camera, an AMOLED screen, and a 5000mAh battery with 67W fast charging.

Because the Poco X4 Pro 5G is identical to the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, then we may see a similar design and spec sheet like it. We’ll let you know once it is out.
