The Xiaomi 12 looks like a mix between the Infinix Hot 11s and the OnePlus 9

Design and originality don’t mix well these days

Fans have been anticipating the latest flagship device from Xiaomi ever since the SD8G1 chip was announced. New render leaks reveal that the Xiaomi 12 would sport a very familiar-looking green colour scheme and camera design.

There would only be two Xiaomi 12 phones that are going to be released which are the base Xiaomi 12 and the 12 Pro. The Xiaomi 12 would be using a 50mp Sony IMX766 camera with a larger 1/1.56″ sensor that was also used on the OnePlus Nord 2, which is sadly, a midrange phone. The Pro would use a Sony IMX707 camera sensor with an even larger 1/1.28″ sensor size. A larger sensor size allows for more details and more light to come in, allowing for bright and masterful imagery and quality. The Sony IMX707 is a variant of the flagship-grade IMX700 used on the Huawei Mate 40 Pro. Both of these phones will sport OIS for its main camera.

Recent rumors also reveal the full specifications of the flagship phone way ahead of the release date. The phone would obviously sport a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor that’s paired with 8 or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and either 128 or 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. It would boot with MIUI 13 at the ready which promises performance optimizations and other features. There’s also a 4500mAh battery coupled with 67W fast charging and 30W fast wireless charging.

In terms of audio, there’s Dolby Atmos support with Hi-Res audio which should give an immersive mini-theater-like experience.

In terms of display, there’s a 6.28in. OLED panel with FHD+ resolution, at least for the Xiaomi 12. (The Xiaomi 11 gets a 2K display, so this is, unfortunately, a downgrade). There’s also a 120Hz refresh rate, 16000 nits of peak brightness, and HDR10+ support for an extra-vibrant and lively display and colour accuracy.

Going back to the cameras, the Xiaomi 12 would use a midranger 50mp Sony IMX766 camera sensor with OIS that’s paired with a 13mp ultrawide and as well as a telephoto camera with 3x zoom also with OIS. The megapixel resolution of this camera has not been specified yet. Both the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro would sport a 32mp selfie camera.

The price of the Xiaomi 12 has been listed too. The 8/128 version is priced at CNY3,699 (~Php 29K), the 8/256 at CNY 3,999 (~Php 31.4K), and finally the 12/256 at CNY 4,399 (~Php 34.6K).

While the above sneak peeks look indeed official, let’s not get ahead of ourselves as Xiaomi can still make changes and the above post is currently an unconfirmed rumor. Though to be honest, these are quite plausible and something Xiaomi would definitely release.
