Would you still buy it even if there are no 5G services in it?
Huawei has announced the P50 series as the successor to the P40 series, which was one of the first Huawei phones to not have Google services. The series was teased during the Harmony 2.0 announcement and was finally unveiled in China last July. The company is bringing the phone to Philippine shores today.
It is one of a handful of flagships that does not have 5G services thanks to the US ban. There are two versions of the phone announced in China; one with a Kirin 9000 chipset and the other has a Snapdragon 888 4G chip. The latter will come to the Philippines.
If you can recall, the phone is equipped with a 6.6in. OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate. As mentioned earlier, the version coming here uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage (Though, Huawei should also bring the 12/512 version to make the phone highly competitive). The main highlight of this phone is its stunning camera that was enhanced through Huawei’s own R&D. The main lens is a 50mp main sensor with laser autofocus and OIS, a 40mp black-and-white sensor, a 13mp ultrawide, and finally, a 64mp periscopic telephoto with OIS and 3.5x optical zoom. And in case you were wondering… Yes. The phone still uses Leica optics
Concerning the battery, the phone comes with a 4360mAh with 66W fast charging. It can also wirelessly charge at 50W. The version coming here has HarmonyOS 2.0 to boot but uses Huawei Mobile Services instead. As a flagship, the phone carries an IP68 water/dust resistance rating.
Pricing and availability are yet to be announced so soon, we will update this page.
