Samsung signed a deal with Tesla valued around $500 million. This deal in particular discusses that Samsung will supply the Cybertruck’s camera sensors.

The report came from South Korean news outlets. According to SAMMOBILE, Samsung’s latest camera modules will be used for the upcoming electric vehicle. The Tesla Cybertruck is Tesla’s futuristic concept of an electric vehicle that was first unveiled in 2019. The design is unorthodox, going for a design similar to low-poly vehicles seen on PS1 games.

Samsung had partnered with Tesla before. They have supplied components such as batteries, for their vehicles. Other than camera sensors, there are also reports indicating that Samsung will also provide PixCell LED lamps for Tesla in the future.

Seen above is Samsung’s latest ISOCELL Auto 4AC camera sensor exclusively for automobiles. This might be the camera sensor that would also be used for the Cybertruck when it starts being mass-produced. This particular sensor features Samsung’s CornerPixel solution that enhances the field of view for safer driving. The sensor has a size of 1/3.7in. optical format and a 1.2 million 3 µm (micrometer) pixels and can be placed anywhere inside a vehicle that allows for a wider field of view.
