Starting September 30th, users can keep their mobile numbers intact when switching to different networks

No need for a new number everytime.

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said last Wednesday, January 27th that the Mobile Number Portability Act will commence by the end of September this year.

Under the Mobile Number Portability Act, a mobile user would have to submit a porting application if he/she would want to switch networks, under it, the user’s phone number will be left intact even after switching.

NTC Deputy Commissioner Ed Cabarios said that this interoperability testing will start by June. Supposedly to start early 2021, it was delayed further due to the on-going pandemic.

Major telecoms companies like Globe, Smart and DITO all expressed their interest and formed a consortium called “Telecommunications Connectivity” and has tapped Syniverse to implement porting.
