It starts with a simple, yet overused design.

Tecno has announced its newest phone, though quite obscurely as we find it difficult to find a suitable image that shows what exactly the phone looks like. That phone is the Spark 40 launching first in Nigeria, Tecno’s primary market.
The design reminds us of the POCO M3 but others might say it resembles the supposed leaked design of the new iPhone 17 Pro. The rectangular bar that expands the camera island being the biggest hint, as well as how its “three” cameras are arranged. The phone’s main feature is its strong battery life and arguably fast charging.

The Tecno Spark 40 is not available yet in the Philippines, so we can only get its specs from other sources, including Tecno Nigeria. It features a MediaTek Helio G81 chipset with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM. Sounds disappointing, but you need to consider that this is a budget phone after all. Not intended for those intense gaming sessions at all.
The phone flaunts an IR Blaster to control different appliances including ACs and TVs. There is only one camera at the back, that is a 50MP sensor. The other two are just decorations. Another feature of the phone is its dual speakers, or so they claim. These speakers are enhanced with DTS Audio. Freelink is a feature that is quite necessary in a continent where infrastructure desperately needs some development. This allows you to remain in a call without any signal whatsoever.
Finally, the display. It uses a punch-hole HD+ IPS LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate. The Spark 40 features 45W fast charging and paired with a 5200mAh battery. Not to mention, it is splash and dust resistant thanks to the IP64 rating.
The phone comes in Blue, Silver, and Black.
The Tecno Spark 40 (8/256) starts at NGN 142,700 (~PHP 5.2K).
