Pre-order on January 9. Drop the phone on a smooth floor… if you dare to.
It’s only the first week of 2025, but Honor here already has a huge PASABOG waiting for us. Last year’s motif for the X9 series was its tough screen but it seems like the brand wants to go even deeper than that. Why not make it the “toughest phone” Honor has ever made? Oh, let’s take a step further by ensuring not only is the screen durable but also improve on the battery life and camera output quality?
Some of you might be thinking “why should I buy the X9c when the X9b looks just similar to it?” Well, you are correct in a sense that you should keep your X9b a little longer but those who are willing to try out on an Honor phone, they should jump straight to this one, especially if they have the budget to do so.
The phone launches on January 10 and by then you can pre-order. Also, we heard you can win a FREE ROLEX watch for pre-ordering. Before you get too excited, the promo is launched by Gentry Timepieces, a popular official channel of luxury watches, and they have collaborated with Honor Philippines for this special occasion. By visiting Gentry’s website and searching for the watch in question, the Rolex Datejust, one can find that the most affordable Datejust, 36mm, White, 1995, costs PHP 299,000. Imagine a freebie that’s more valuable than the thing you’re buying. This is a “once-in-a-blue-moon” event, so don’t miss out! And if it’s the most recent Datejust you’re looking for, that would cost you PHP 868,000. This is the 2018 Blue Diamond Datejust with a 41mm dial. Insane freebie if you ask us.
Okay now, going back to the phone’s specifics. It has much improved over the X9b. Well, the chipset is still the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 with 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM but it has a way bigger battery, a whopping 6600mAh with 66W fast charging, a 108MP camera with OIS (versus 64MP of the X9b without OIS), and IP65M water and dust resistance. What does the “M” stand for? It has no “defined” meaning but the company says this means the phone was able to withstand strong jets of water while in motion. This means the phone can withstand a powerful stream launched by a hose, bidet, or one Neuvillette charged attack.
The display is still the same. Why change something that isn’t broken? It is an OLED screen with a 1.5K (2772x1200px) resolution with 120Hz refresh rate. It also lacks a headphone jack, something we got used to since its official extinction in 2017. The selfie camera is the same ol’ 16MP. No changes here.
What changed is the design. The image on the left is the X9b and on the right is the X9c. The cameras are now arranged in a more uniform look, somewhat resembling the Huawei Mate 30. It also has a new “ceramic-like” texture at the back to symbolize its supposed strength and durability, at least for the Jade Cyan variant. What’s for sure though, the X9c can survive the rain just as much as surviving a bath. The X9c comes in Titanium Purple, Titanium Black, and the exclusive Jade Cyan.
The phone is hinted to cost similarly to the X9b. We’ll have to wait and see. Tune in on Honor’s social media pages at 6PM on January 10 and you may win some extra goodies! We also recommend you join the official Honor Community Facebook group to learn more tips and tricks with your Honor phone, exciting giveaways, and a chance to meet and befriend some of the most dedicated community members!
