After so many delays, Oppo finally brings the Find series to the Philippines once more. Are they confident?
Oppo Philippines typically does not bring a flagship in the Philippines because the Reno series does that job already, and OnePlus is sort of its flagship brand already. Naturally, when they tease and launch a flagship in the Philippines, that’s big news for the brand. This means their confidence is coming back and that Filipinos can truly afford a flagship. This must be their forecast with their flip and foldable phones.
With Vivo announcing the X200 series, which is a big hit in China, Oppo does not want to be left out. After multiple teasers and hyping up the community, the brand finally is bringing the Hasselblad-powered Find X8 in the country. Its price is also intriguing, matching many flagships of its tier, at PHP 54,999.
The Find X8 seems like “testing the waters” because in China, there is a Find X8 Pro but that one is sadly not confirmed to be available in the Philippines. Its main feature is its triple cameras and the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9400. To think, only a few months ago, we had 4nm, and even Apple’s 3nm chip was struggling in performance.
For starters, the phone comes in a design that seems to be directly inspired from the Reno 12 series. Notably the circular camera array with the Hasselblad “H” logo at the center. The phone comes in Star Grey and Space Black. The former has a glossy glass finish, while the latter is matte. The side frames remind us of the new iPhone 16 Pro series. This frame is made of metal.
The Alert Slider makes a presence for the first time in Oppo phones. The brand has full control over OnePlus and so this includes the Hasselblad collaboration they have, as well as the iconic alert slider which allows you to easily mute, vibrate, or activate notifications, sounds, and/or calls.
The Oppo Find X8 is all about creating great photos, akin to a professional DSLR. It has the lenses to prove it. All three cameras have 50MP resolution but each function differently. This includes the Periscope, the ultrawide, and the primary wide camera. Apart from the ultrawide, these cameras have OIS.
Meanwhile, the display is expected for a flagship. It features a 1.5K (2760x1256px) AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and an ultrabright 4500nits peak brightness. That’s more than your usual lighting. Of course, it cannot be a flagship display without Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 12-bit colour support. Also, Oppo chose to use a flat display instead of curved this time around.
As we mentioned earlier, the Oppo Find X8 uses the new MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, which is based on a 3nm TSMC process node. The phone comes with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 ROM. As for connectivity, expect only the latest and the best. This includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and of course, 5G.
Now, it cannot be a tech event without ever mentioning “AI”. It’s so used that it’s basically lost meaning. For the Find X8, these include the usual AI writer and AI Erase, but also AI Unblur, AI text generator, and AI Reflection remover.
As for battery power, the phone comes with a “small” battery, 5630mAh in capacity. Now, when we said “small” we meant the size of the battery, not its capacity. How? Oppo is finally adapting Silicon-Carbon (SiC) instead of the typical Li-Ion for its battery. This means the brand can fit more capacity inside a smaller enclosure! The Find X8 comes equipped with 80W fast charging and 50W fast wireless charging to boot, all under the “SuperVOOC” branding. This proprietary charging method also works for most OnePlus devices. According to Oppo, SiC batteries are also less prone to overheating.
And finally, the phone comes with an IR Blaster, IP69 dust/water resistance, and stereo speakers with Hi-Res certification and Dolby Atmos modification. As mentioned, the phone costs PHP 54,999.
You can get this flagship yourself at any Oppo concept store nationwide. You can pre-order the phone until November 30th. Regular sales start the next day. Also, when you pre-order, you also get a FREE pair of wireless earbuds, the Enco Air 3s and an extended 1-year warranty!
