Stay tuned for the review!
Vivo just announced the V40 in China and soon it’s headed its way into global markets. But the V30 series is not even that old, and reviewers only got to hold the V30e recently. We are about to get our unit, and if not, maybe the V40? But since the V30e is what’s available in the Philippines, we’ll discuss it first.
As the name suggests, it’s a watered down V30, like many of the “e” subseries. It sports a completely different look versus the V30 and V30 Pro, mainly using a circular camera island. It also uses the same type of aura ring light as the V29, so it is not as bright as its siblings.
Design is its main highlight. It comes in two colours. These are Coco Brown and Cloud White, with a design inspired from nature, and a texture that has a ceramic feel. We’re hoping this one isn’t as fragile as the Vivo V30 Pro. If you’ve seen our review, you know how we felt holding it.
As with the Vivo V30 siblings, the OLED screen on the V30e is curved and has a FullHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Nothing much changed in this department.
Of course, Aura Portrait with AI is still the name of the game. The V30e comes with three cameras, yes, including the 32MP selfie camera. At the back is a 50MP Sony IMX882 Primary and an 8MP ultrawide. The usual stuff. Also no, no ZEISS Branding this time. Got to keep those prices low somehow. At least the main camera is very competent.
The chipset used for this is the ever-popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. This chipset is designed to replace the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 and so offers performance similar to it. Other phones that use this chip is the Honor X9b. The Vivo V30e has 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM, the bare minimum for this type of phone.
Finally, there is the battery. It is now larger, at 5500mAh capacity. It charges slower than its siblings, maxing out at 44W Flash Charge. It comes with a charging brick and cable.
The phone is priced at PHP 18,999 and is available on Lazada. You might be able to find it in other authorized stores nationwide as well.
