Honor Magic6 Pro To Launch Today May 8!

No.1 in almost every category!

The long-awaited successor to the Magic5 Pro will launch today! Just like last year, the Magic6 Pro is rated no.1 in DXOMark in terms of cameras. Hold on, wait. This time, it’s actually no.1 seemingly in EVERY CATEGORY! That’s right! No.1 in Selfie, Display, and Battery… according to DXOMark at least.

The phone was first revealed in China with some of the Philippine media teams taking flight to see the Magic6 Pro in person. During that event, other Honor devices such as the Magic V Purse, were presented.

Honor is priding itself by being always on top not on sales alone but also in lab tests and so far, no one has beaten their camera streak yet. Of course, being lab tests, they are tested under specific conditions and the real-life results will vary from person to person.

It features a curved 1.5K LTPO display measuring 6.8 inches. You can tell it’s LTPO by having an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate. The display peaks at 1600nits brightness and with HDR, it goes all the way to 5000nits.

As obvious as it may be, the phone uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM. Just like the battery, Honor added two extra chips to improve the phone’s performance and security. One of them is the discrete security chip S1 and the RF-Enhanced Honor C1+ chip. The former works similarly to the Titan M2 security chip found on Google Pixel devices, while the Honor C1+ is used to improve signal quality. Though this metric still depends on your area.

One of its proudest highlights and features are the cameras. The Magic series prides itself as being the no.1 camera in all flagships since the Magic4 Ultimate. It has continued this track record even to this day. We know how great the Honor Magic5 Pro is so we’re expecting more this time around with the Magic6 Pro. There are four cameras present here, plus the 3D ToF sensor at the front for extremely fast focusing. The main camera at the back is a 50MP “Honor Falcon” camera. They aren’t telling the sensor used but we believe it’s the Sony IMX920. This sensor uses variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/2.0, a feature we wish to be more common. The other two sensors include the 180MP telephoto camera and the 50MP ultrawide. Improving upon telephoto camera capabilities seem to be Honor’s forte. However, having 180MP on the telephoto is an unusual move and makes us just all the more curious. The selfie camera also has 50MP resolution.

Based on its hashtags, Honor is promoting the phone’s AI capabilities and they are really proud of it too!

In terms of design, it’s not that much different apart from a less rounded camera island. It uses a SiC battery instead of the usual Li-Ion which allows it to be smaller yet carry more capacity! This phone has a large 5600mAh capacity paired with 80W SuperCharge fast charging and 66W SuperCharge Wireless Charging. The phone also comes with its own chip called Honor E1 that improves battery life by adapting to different climates.

The phone will launch tonight at 7PM in the Philippines and we expect to see some significant improvements over the Magic5 Pro. Its price is expected to be similar to its predecessor. Globally the available colours are Epi Green and Black. The former uses a grass-like pattern that symbolizes nature. We forgot to mention it has an IP68 rating so you can use it under raining conditions worry-free. Do take note of the disclaimers. This rating is based on lab tests. And for the love of God, do not immerse it onto the salty sea floor. Doing so will corrode the device and this is not included in the warranty.
