HONOR Pad 9 Launched with a Paper-like Display!

And a look that’s more like the Oppo Pad Air 2

Paper and matte displays. A gimmick or a feature? However your point of view is, it’s going to become the norm and HiHonor is here for it. The Honor Pad 9 launched in China with a paper-like matte display at its core. This display is less straining and more private, making it great for e-books.

Matte displays aren’t new and you can even buy a screen protector with a matte coating on top. Huawei’s PaperMatte lineup and just recently, the TCL 40 NXTPaper are examples of tablets and phones featuring a matte-like display. The Honor Pad 9’s display is nearly borderless, measuring 12.1 inches, and with a resolution of 2560x1600px.

As for other specs, the Honor Pad 9 retains the stylus support the Pad 8 had, as well as a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset. The tablet has its main camera placed at the middle and horizontally aligned. It’s very similar to the OnePlus Pad and Oppo Pad 2.

The tablet has 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. It also comes with a modestly sized 8300mAh battery with 35W fast charging. The tablet also has a magnetic strip to store your stylus as well as attach a keyboard. These are sold separately.

There are two cameras. A single 8MP at the front and another one at the back with 13MP resolution. It’s nice to see that tablets are now catching up with phones in terms of camera quality. The tablet lacks LTE and so you can’t have data plans on it. It does have dual-band Wi-Fi however as well as Bluetooth 5.3.

It runs Android 13 with MagicOS 7.2 modified for the Pad on top. Price starts at CNY 1,599 (8/128) (~PHP 12.3K) and goes all the way to CNY 2,199 (12/512) (~PHP 17K). No prices are announced yet for Philippine and global users. Colors to choose from include Green, White, and Black.
