Only PHP 59,999. This says a lot in comparison with the Galaxy Z Folds.
Back in June, the Tecno Phantom V Fold was released in the Philippines and in the world via a live event. Its main boasting feature is the “crease-free” hinge. Aside from that, the Tecno MegaBook T1 2023 was released featuring an updated Intel Core chipset and up to 16GB RAM.
The Phantom V Fold shocked the world as it is one of the most, if not THE most affordable, foldable phone to date. It’s even more affordable than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Huawei Mate X3.
Of course, being more affordable means there are some budget cuts to be made. First off, it uses a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset versus the usual Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Though, this is not a bad thing considering this chipset is very very competitive and yet it’s also affordable to purchase.
The display is no joke either. Unfolded, you will be greeted with a 7.85″ LTPO AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, L1 Widevine certification, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and HDR10+ support. This screen has a resolution of 22296x2000px. The Galaxy Z Fold4 has a WXGA+ (2176x1812px) SAMOLED screen while the Huawei Mate X3 has a resolution of 2496x2224px.
The cameras are very competitive, thankfully. It comes with a 50MP Primary Camera, a 13MP Ultrawide, and another 50MP reserved for the telephoto camera. The phone also has a 32MP selfie shooter inside, and a 16MP camera when folded. It appears that the primary camera has no OIS (but EIS is supported) which is one way to cut corners and keep prices low while also remaining competitive.
It has a standard 5000mAh battery and Tecno’s signature 45W fast charging. Got to keep that consistent across several devices. Samsung normally opts to just 25W, Apple at 20W, and Huawei at 66 or 67W. Unlike the Mate X3 and Galaxy Z Fold4, the Phantom V Fold does not have any wireless charging capability.
Finally, it features Bluetooth 5.3, a dual nano-SIM slot, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and 5G connectivity.
It comes in Black and White and is priced at PHP 59,999 with 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM. The Galaxy Z Fold4 starts at PHP 84,490 (12/256) while the Mate X3 is priced at a whopping PHP 109,990 (12/512). That really puts into perspective on how affordable the Tecno Phantom V Fold is.
