Counter Strike 2 is Now Available FOR FREE on Steam!

It’s just Global Offensive but don’t worry about it.

After its initial announcement in July, Counter Strike: Global Offensive finally got its needed overhaul and upgrade. Including new modes, better multiplayer experiences, new maps, and a revamped version of the popular map, Dust II. The developers said that CS2 is a FREE UPGRADE from CS:GO. This means anyone with a Steam account can download and play it.

Aside from the new maps, the game also comes with a new Premier Mode for extra competitive ranked games, as well as making the game e-sports ready.

For those of you who play CS:GO, your progress, statistics, purchases, and accounts will migrate over to the new game, without having the need to start over. In addition to the better graphics, the game also has more realistic physics and dynamic lighting, which means explosions would be more interactive, and HE grenade smokes would be more crucial in immersive gameplay.

Can your PC run Crysis? It could probably run CS2 then. The requirements are as follows, according to its Steam listing:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or Ubuntu 20.04 or newer
  • Processor: 4 hardware threads. At least Intel Core i5-750 or higher
  • RAM: 8GB or higher
  • Graphics: 1GB VRAM or higher and should be at least DirectX 11 compatible with support for Shader Model 5.0
  • Storage: At least 85GB

That’s… a pretty big game but modern games this large, especially AAA titles, are pretty common. These days, even 1TB would suffer from a game released from 2016 and newer. Take note that Counter Strike 2 would also release periodical updates so you need a big allowance from the minimum storage requirement.

The game currently has Very Positive Reviews on Steam. The existence of a Counter Strike 2 meant that Counter Strike 3 will never ever become real, considering Gabe Newell can’t count past three.
