The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 are now Official!

During this year’s Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung enticed its users to join the flip side as the company unveils the new Z Flip5 and Fold5, among other things like the Galaxy Tab S9 and the Watch 6 series. For this article, we’ll discuss the two new folding phones, then the tablet, and then finally the sick new smartwatch.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

Utilizing the same exact design as the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the “new” foldable phone is an improvement over the other… if you consider sidegrades an improvement.

What’s new however, is the new hinge design which we’re hoping that the annoying crease would finally be invisible to human eyes. It gets a slightly bigger cover display too… and everything else is your typical flagship phone.

As a flagship, it uses the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which is also shared with the Galaxy S23 series. Not just that, but this new foldable phone is slightly thinner at 13.4mm when fully closed (the Z Fold4 was 14.2mm thick).

Aside from that, there’s really nothing much else. It’s got your IPX8 rating carried over last year’s and the new double rail hinge mechanism is more durable but we’re not so sure if it could hide creases better.

Of course, it retains the S-Pen support and now has a more scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

Overall, it’s a minimal upgrade over the last so if you couldn’t purchase this one, you aren’t really missing out by getting the Z Fold4.

SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FLIP 5:

You know the drill. The Z Flip5 is supposedly an upgrade from the Z Flip4. Sure, it’s got a brighter and larger cover display but also, it fixed the biggest problem of the Z Flip4, the hinge that left quite a visible gap when opened and closed and other manufacturers are taking advantage of this issue, such as Oppo’s Find N2 Flip.

The newly improved hinge now lets the phone close fully flat and makes the phone thinner too, at 15.4mm. As mentioned, the cover display got a buff too. It now measures 3.4″ but it has a weird “folder-like” shape. Longtime Samsung fans know this cover display as “Flex Window” which allows you to see notifications and use the main cameras for selfies.

Again, it uses the same modified Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for the Galaxy S23 series. The screen is now protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and has the same IPX8 rating as the previous phone.

It comes in Mint, Graphite, Lavender, and Cream. It is ready for pre-order and like the Z Fold 5, comes with a FREE storage upgrade. This means you can get the 8/512 storage option for the price of the 8/256 which will come on August 18. The price of the 8/256 is PHP 64,990. The original price of the 8/512 variant is PHP 71,990.

General availability is on August 18. From then, you could purchase it almost anywhere Samsung authorizes it like MemoXpress, Rulls’, and their own Concept Stores.
