The HONOR X50 5G is Teased in China. The First Phone to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 Chipset

A phone that’s quite related to the X9a 5G. Wonder if the glass is still tough?

Honor announced a new midrange 5G phone in its home base in China, the X50 5G. The design is inspired or possibly even taken from its cousin smartphone, the X9a 5G which is known for its tough and durable glass. It even has a rounded camera bump.

Speaking of that camera bump, from the X9a, the camera here has been upgraded from a 64MP sensor to a 108MP one so details would look sharper especially when zoomed in. It only has two cameras though, the other is a 2MP macro unit. Like the X9a 5G, it comes in a “glasstic” and a special unique vegan leather in an orange colour scheme.

Its main feature is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 5G chipset which has a similar performance to the Snapdragon 695 if you look at its spec sheet. Though what set it apart is the 4nm process which significantly helps in cooling down the phone and stability. According to datamines, the phone will be equipped with a 6.78″ curved OLED screen like the X9a with 120Hz refresh rate, a large 6000mAh battery with 35W USB-C charging and a lack of a headphone jack. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Honor CMO Jiang Hairong confirmed that the phone is resistant to drops so it may have the same tough screen as the X9a.

The HONOR X50 will launch in China on July 5 with its global variant to be announced soon.
