The Oppo Find X6 Pro is now DxoMark’s best camera phone.

Only a few months since the Honor Magic5 Pro.

Only after a few months since the Honor Magic5 Pro was touted as the best camera phone in the world, DXOMark brought that crown down and awarded it to the Oppo Find X6 Pro. The competition in these flagship phones is astounding as they can easily topple each other fast.

The Find X6 Pro scored a point higher now versus the Magic5 Pro with 153 points overall. However, the previous champion scored slightly higher still in terms of photo, zoom, and video capabilities. Even then, these are very small increases, except with Preview in which the latter toppled it as the Find X6 Pro scored only 72 points. The “preview” score is meant to compare how the camera app sees the picture versus when the photo was actually shot and applied necessary filters and adjustments.

The FInd X6 Pro is also the first time Oppo was seen topping DXOMark’s charts. This is not because the company has terrible computational photography, but because the company has heavily focused on more budget-friendly devices prior to the pandemic. Previously, mainstream flagship handsets were handled by OnePlus, before their transition.

The Oppo Find X6 Pro is not without its help, as after OnePlus merged, the company received assistance from Hasselblad. A feature that was first present with the OnePlus 9 Pro.

So what makes the Oppo Find X6 Pro’s camera so impressive? According to DXOMARK, the device features a “triple main camera” setup that consists of three 50MP sensors: a wide-angle lens with OIS, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a telephoto lens. The device also has a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.

The main gripes of the Find X6 Pro were the occasional oversaturation of some skin tones and the lack of HDR image preview. The latter is one of the main reasons why the preview score for this device is pretty low. DXOMark did praise the camera’s photo recognition system and consistent sharpness of videos and photos even in low light conditions.

The Oppo Find X6 Pro’s large image sensors are said to provide “excellent texture and noise results in photo, zoom, bokeh, and video”. The device also excels in capturing landscapes and portraits, as it manages to grab a lot of natural light in all lighting conditions. The color rendering is also well-balanced, and the dynamic range is wide.

The lab is yet to reveal the results for the front camera.
