As promised, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will arrive in global markets

This marks the first time the Ultra series will be brought globally.

When the Xiaomi 13 series were announced, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, made a promise to bring the greatest of all Xiaomi phones, the 13 Ultra, globally. The series was previously region-locked in China and will now be available globally after the 10, 11, and 12S Ultra got massive traction and interest from Western audiences.

Leica posted a letter on its Twitter account. “For the first time, different smartphone lenses from wide-angle to telephoto have achieved consistently excellent optical capabilities, which can be described as the “coming of age ceremony of mobile imaging”. Leica said in a statement.

“The Xiaomi 13 Ultra achieves this feat. It is a great honor to recommend this fantastic product co-engineered by Leica and Xiaomi, which will be launched globally“. The company added.

There are no official specs about it yet and seeing this letter, there are chances that both the Chinese and global launch will occur simultaneously just like with their previous flagships. It is expected to carry a 6.7″ LTPO E6 AMOLED screen with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and at least 120Hz refresh rate. An IP68 rating and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 screen protection are also anticipated.

There’s no other chip to power this than the 2nd-gen TSMC 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.

A 5000mAh battery is also pretty obvious, if not that, then at least 4500mAh. This is coupled with 90W fast charging, 50W wireless, and the ability to reverse charge too.

As for the cameras? The primary camera should be similar to the Xiaomi 13 with a 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor and a lens customized by Leica. The software also has Leica-specific features that only the Xiaomi 12 and 13 series could fully take advantage of. (Not counting the previous Huawei phones that had Leica technology).

These are rumored specs though so take them with a grain of salt. We’ll see in the coming weeks for its official launch.
