The Redmi 12C debuts tomorrow in the Philippines

The Redmi 12C has been released globally and in China, so it’s about time Xiaomi Philippines release the phone here too. The company has been releasing a series of guessing games for its users to determine the specs, but we’ll spoil you and give the answers here. Those who have answered correctly have a chance to win the said budget phone.

It’s a no-brainer to get these specs correctly. Its main highlights include its tall 6.71″ HD+ (1612x720px) IPS LCD screen, an ageing MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, and a 5000mAh battery which sadly does not have fast charging. It also has a rear fingerprint scanner which we observed becomes restricted on budget phones. We rarely see it on higher-end phones probably for aesthetics purposes.

Other features include its high-res 50MP (f/1.8, 1/2.76″) primary camera with a 2MP depth sensor complementary, alongside a dramatically reduced 5MP selfie camera. The quality shift is real.

Aside from the 1TB MicroSD card expansion, you’ll also get the placebo-like Virtual RAM. An additional 5GB RAM will be added from the 6GB physical RAM it has available. Though, a 4/64 version is also an option. The other is 6/128.

The phone apparently lacks an IR Blaster which shifts away from Xiaomi/Redmi tradition of having them. Also, it uses a MicroUSB plug. That’s when you know it’s really a budget phone.

Xiaomi has not revealed the price yet but they would on its launch day. We actually have an idea on how much it costs. Spoiler alert: it won’t cost more than Php10K. 😉

There are four colours to choose from: Graphite Gray, Ocean Blue, Mint Green, and Lavender Purple. These colours come in a diagonal stripe pattern design which also adds extra grip.
