This one also touts a clean Android Experience, but it’s Android Go instead of Android One

The Redmi A1 was released in India about a month ago and is now making its way here as an affordable Android Go device with a modern design, including a vegan leather back.

The phone’s main design looks like a very ultra-low budget Xiaomi Mi 11. As expected from an ultrabudget device, there are some very thick bezels and a waterdrop notch. However despite this, the phone still looks clean and eye-pleasing.

It uses an outdated quad-core MediaTek Helio A22. It is based on a 12nm process which makes it power-efficient but also lacking in terms of performance, a perfect candidate for an Android Go phone. It cannot boast playing hardcore games so don’t even try it unless you want your phone to be the next piece of cookware you’ll use. Also, this low performance output is evident with its 2/64 configuration. You can still surprisingly expand the RAM by up to 3GB at the cost of its internal storage which is also expandable. However, this effect may be a placebo to some.

There is a dual camera system at the back (8MP + depth) and a single 5MP camera at the front. It’s an ultrabudget phone so we don’t really expect top-notch cameras here. Xiaomi probably just have some leather left in its factories and so they put it onto good use.

Inside it is a large 5000mAh battery that is unusual for an Android Go phone. It charges via MicroUSB so we don’t think it will hit the European Union anytime soon. It has Bluetooth 5.0, 4G LTE, a single 2.4GHz Wi-Fi frequency, and a 3.5mm jack. It also has FM Radio but no IR blaster, a staple in many of Xiaomi’s handsets

Its introductory price is Php 3,999 but its actual price is Php 4,499. This introductory price runs until November 13. Pre-orders start on October 29th. There is also a FREE Bluetooth speaker for users who will purchase the phone, of course, from an OEM company.
