Vivo officially brings the V25 series to the Philippines!

The camera-focused series brings in a sleek, premium design at a premium price as well

Vivo V25 Pro

The successor of the V23 series, the V25 series, has been released in the Philippines. This series is comprised of three phones: Vivo V25 Pro, Vivo V25, and Vivo V25e. The latter two have 5G services while the Vivo V25e doesn’t but uses a power-efficient Helio G99 chipset.

Vivo V25 Pro

Vivo V25 Pro

The Vivo V25 Pro 5G is a sleek flagship-like phone sporting a Flourite AG textured glass back that can withstand drops, scratches, and sweat. Due to this, it isn’t a fingerprint magnet and makes it also resistant to smudges. The design allows it to shift colours while you move the phone around.

The display is a 6.56in. 3D-curved FHD+ (2376x1080px) AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and HDR10+ support. It is also the first V-series Vivo phone to sport a curved panel.

Inside is the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. Virtual RAM is available and you can expand the storage for as much as 8GB, making the total available RAM 20GB. The chipset is now slightly speedier than its predecessor which was equipped with a Dimensity 1200 chip.

It has 66W fast charging that can charge its 4,830mAh battery to 40% in just 15 minutes, as Vivo claims. It also has a surge protection that prevents the phone from combusting and therefore, extending the lifespan of the battery.

Cameras are the main feature of the Vivo V series and the Vivo V25 Pro offers a disappointingly typical set of cameras: a 64MP main with PDAF and OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. On the bright side, at least it has OIS. In front is a 32MP selfie camera which, for some reason, is sitting on a waterdrop notch where others have switched to a pill notch (Xiaomi may be the first to copy the concept) or a dot notch.

One of the main features of its 64MP main camera is the improved computational photography, including Real-Time Extreme Night Vision and better handling of portraits.

The phone comes in Surfing Blue and Starlight Black. In the Philippines, the phone is priced at a hefty Php29,999. It has 5G services, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, a USB-C port, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It also is equipped with FunTouchOS 12 based on Android 12.

It is available in Lazada, Vivo’s official concept stores, and third-party retailers, as well as Shopee and TikTok Shop on September 23. Until supplies last, each Vivo V25 Pro phone will also come with a FREE SIM Card, an ODM smartwatch, and a clock speaker.

Vivo V25

The second phone, the vanilla Vivo V25, uses a weaker MediaTek Dimensity 900 and a slower 90Hz refresh rate. Its design and rear cameras are identical to that of the Pro. The Vivo V25 sports a 50MP front camera and still uses a dewdrop notch (in 2022, at luxury midrange levels. Just think about that for a second)

The screen is a 6.4in. 2.5D curved FHD+ (2404x1080px) AMOLED screen with 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. Vivo also reported a 6,000,000:1 contrast ratio for this phone which makes you think which one actually deserves the “Pro” label here.

That’s also evident by its cameras. It’s the same 64MP+8MP+2MP setup but the front camera now has more resolution, at 50MP. Like the Pro, this also has Vivo’s “Eye Autofocus” feature.

It is equipped by a weaker MediaTek Dimensity 900 paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. Both are expandable. The RAM virtually and the ROM via a MicroSD card.

It has a 4500mAh battery supplemented by a slightly slower 44W of fast charging. It has a USB-C port, a lack of a headphone jack, 5G services, and an In-display fingerprint scanner.

It is also available via Lazada, Shopee, TikTok Shop, and Vivo’s offline concept stores and partner retailers tomorrow, 23rd September. It comes in Sunrise Gold and Diamond Black. Like the Pro, the phone will also come with freebies until supplies last. These are the FREE SIM Card and ODM TWS earbuds. It is priced at Php23,999

VIVO V25e

The basic phone of the V25 series, it serves as budget phone and entry-level device for the series. It sports a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, a 6nm chipset that is an upgrade over the G96. It also sports a similar premium-like design.

All three phones, including the Vivo V25e sport the colour-changing Polychromatic 2.0 back which was achieved through the use of what’s called a Light Molecular which, when exposed to UV-C light, the colour of the back panel changes. Try putting it out on the sun for a while and see the magic happen. The back is protected with a Fluorite AG glass back that is fingerprint and scratch-resistant.

Underneath the beautiful design is the disappointing specs to price ratio. It uses the same display as the Vivo V25 but this does not have 5G. It uses the Helio G99, MediaTek’s answer to the popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. The phone is a watered-down V25. This chipset is paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage that is both expandable. Virtually and physically.

The cameras here are also downgraded, although it kept the same 64MP OIS camera the others have. This one has been complemented by the useless 2MP macro and depth sensors instead. The front camera has 32MP resolution, similar to the V25 Pro.

It has a 4500mAh battery with 44W fast charging, similar to the V25. It has a USB-C port to charge. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 6/6E, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, Dual Nano-SIM Slot, and 4G LTE services. Like the first two, the phone does not include a headphone jack. A shame really.

It is available on 23rd September and on Vivo’s concept stores by October 1st. Colours include Sunrise Gold and DIamond Black. It costs a wildly expensive Php18,999 price tag.
