Tecno Spark 9T is now available in India! It has a slightly different design than the Nigerian variant

Most notably, the camera arrangement.

The Tecno Spark 9T has been released in India, although it comes with a different design than the one launched first in Nigeria. This one is reminiscent of the Spark 8P and the vanilla Spark 9 has a textured back and a glossy camera hump. Its camera rings are now separated instead of covered within two large rings. It is essentially a refreshed Spark 9 and also comes with, unfortunately, a waterdrop notch instead of a dot notch.

The phone comes with specs typical for its type. It has a 6.6in. FHD+ (2408x1080px) IPS LCD screen with a standard 60Hz refresh rate, a triple camera setup comprising of a 50MP primary and two minor characters nobody cares about, namely the 2MP depth and AI lens. It comes with an 8MP selfie camera. Meanwhile, the Nigerian variant boasts a 32MP front camera, a major downgrade. The phone comes with several nifty features though such as Animoji and time lapse.

It is powered by a budget processor called the MediaTek Helio G35 with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The former is expandable virtually, totaling 7GB, and the latter through a MicroSD card.

It comes with a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging which Tecno claims can charge to full in an hour (and 50% in half). It charges via the USB-C port it comes with.

Unlike the Nigerian version which comes with Android 12 and xOS 8.6, the Spark 9T in India unfortunately is a little dated, coming with Android 11 with xOS 7.6 inside.

Left: Indian, Right: Nigerian

In terms of connectivity, the Spark 9T (India) comes with 4G services, Wi-Fi, GPS, and FM Radio. It is also IPX2 splash resistant but that’s really just a gimmick or a bonus. It has Tecno’s signature DTS Sound compatibility and 3.5mm jack. Like the Nigerian variant, it comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Colours include Turquoise Cyan, Atlantic Blye, Iris Purple, and Tahiti Gold. It is available for INR 9,299 (~Php 6.5K) although Tecno Philippines is yet to announce which version of the phone would be released here. We’re hoping it’s the Nigerian variant as that is more premium.
