The Realme 9 4G is set to land in the Philippines. It comes with a gimmicky 108MP Samsung HM6 camera

Add the ridiculously expensive price to boot

Realme has previously announced the vanilla version of the Realme 9 a few weeks after the Realme 9 Pro+. That phone is known for its 50MP Sony IMX766 camera. On the other hand, Realme is advertising the Realme 9 with a 108MP Samsung HM6 camera. Now that may sound weird to you since why is this on the lower-end of the spectrum given this one has more megapixels than the other. Please remember that camera performance is not determined solely on its megapixel count. We have a full article addressing this misnomer. For one, the HM6 does not have OIS and heavily relies on pixel binning. Through this method, you technically out a 27MP image copied four times.

Let’s start with the specs. The screen is similar to the previous Realme 8 Pro in that it uses AMOLED. Although this one has a 90Hz refresh rate and the fingerprint sensor is embedded inside. Inside is the popular Snapdragon 680 which several manufacturers seem to be fond over. We could not blame them as this one is an efficiency powerhouse thanks to a lower manufacturing process of 6nm. This is coupled with 6 or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. RAM can be further expanded virtually, up to 13GB. Meanwhile, there is a MicroSD card slot but you can fit only up to 256GB of storage.

As mentioned, the main highlight of this phone is the 108MP Samsung HM6 primary camera. This is complemented by an 8mp ultrawide and a 2mp macro camera. The front is the usual 16mp located on a punch-hole. The company is also bragging again about its famous “street photography” mode that emulates the style of real street photography

It has a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. Its design is premium-looking and uses a holographic-like design as stated by the company. It has a USB-C port, a single bottom-firing speaker, and a 3.5mm jack. It only has 4G services.

We couldn’t announce the price yet as the phone is still in its embargo stage. However, here’s a hint. It’s unexpectedly expensive. We’ll let you know once the embargo lifts. Launching officially starts on 14th June, 6PM Philippine Standard Time.
