The Realme Narzo 50 Pro 5G is for users who wanted the Realme 9 Pro+ but couldn’t afford it

There’s also the more affordable Narzo 50 5G if they want a simple 5G experience

The Realme 9 Pro+ is quite powerful and a cameraman’s phone isn’t it? It is also jam-packed with features that is perfect for its price point. Some find it a little expensive to buy though.

So Realme’s budget division, Narzo, has released their own interpretation with the Narzo 50 Pro 5G and the Narzo 50 5G. Let’s start with the former.

REALME NARZO 50 PRO 5G

Like the Realme 9 Pro+, the Narzo 50 Pro 5G uses a 6.4in. FHD+ (2400x1080px) AMOLED screen with 90Hz refresh rate protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is essentially a rebrand of the Realme 9 Pro+ so expect similar hardware.

The Mediatek Dimensity 920 is the brain of the phone. This is paired with 6 or 8GB RAM (+5GB Virtual RAM expansion) and 128GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. It also has a vapor chamber cooling system inside.

The cameras have been nerfed to a midranger though which is a telltale sign that this is a budget Realme 9 Pro+. Instead of a flagship 50mp Sony IMX766 camera, the main camera has been watered-down to a 48MP Samsung S5KGM1ST mid-range camera. This is paired with a 120-degree 8mp ultrawide and the 2mp macro which is just a gimmick. In front is the 16mp selfie camera sitting on a dot notch.

The charging speed has been reduced to just 33W instead of 60W. The included charger is 33W as well. The battery is 5000mAh which is 500mAh bigger than the Realme 9 Pro+. Performance-wise, it is a hair away.

As the name suggests, it has 5G. It has a 3.5mm jack, a USB-C port, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It has Dolby Audio and stereo speakers for sound. It also boots up with Android 12 with RealmeUI 3.0 on top.

It comes in Hyper Black and Hyper Blue colours. In India, the phone is available via Flipkart and Amazon with the 6/128 configuration priced at INR 21,999 (~Php 14.8K) and the 8/128 configuration at INR 23,999 (~Php 16.2K). Sales start 26th May.

REALME NARZO 50 5G

The Narzo 5G is a watered-down version and you may as well call it the Realme 9 5G.

It has a larger 6.6″ display although the AMOLED was replaced in favour of IPS LCD. It still comes with 90Hz refresh rate and a FHD+ (2408x1080px) resolution.

The chipset inside is the Mediatek Dimensity 810 which is still powerful for a phone at its price range. It is paired with 4 or 6GB RAM and either 64 or 128GB internal storage.

Like the Pro variant, it has a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The phone also kept the 48MP camera but also has lost the ultrawide and macro in favour of a B&W portrait lens. Might as well call this phone a singular camera phone since that B&W lens is not necessary. The 8mp selfie camera is sitting on a waterdrop notch.

It has 5G services obviously but also Dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.3. It’s interesting that the Narzo 50 5G got the upgraded Bluetooth version while the Pro is stuck with 5.2

It has a USB-C port, a 3.5mm jack, dual speakers, and dual microphones. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics and also supports face unlock.

Like the Pro variant, the phone comes in Hyper Blue and Hyper Black colours that have a matte-like finish and a diagonal strip design. It starts at INR 15,999 (~Php 10.8K) for the 4/64 variant and INR 17,999 (~Php 12.1K) for the 6/128 configuration. Sales start two days earlier vs the Narzo 50 Pro, 24th May.
