The OnePlus Nord CE 2 is now available in India.

OnePlus has released the successor to the popular Nord CE 5G, which is essentially a slightly downgraded Nord. The Nord CE 2 5G has brought minor upgrades in comparison to its predecessor.

The first thing to note here is the new design, taking notes from Oppo. It features a camera hump similar to the Oppo Find X3 and the camera arrangement is similar to the Reno 7 with some slight adjustments. The phone now includes an AI-enhanced screen and this screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. For those who are asking, the screen is a 6.43in. 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED panel.

It is powered by the 6nm Mediatek Dimensity 900, similar to that of the Reno 7 series. In a sense, this is OnePlus’ iteration of the Oppo Reno 7. The two would have more obvious design cues as OnePlus merged with its former parent company, Oppo. (They still kept the brand name however). This chipset is paired with 6 or 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage that’s expandable via MicroSD card, a rare feature for OnePlus handsets.

The cameras are nearly unchanged from the Nord CE, keeping the 64mp main camera and 8mp ultrawide. The 2mp mono sensor has been replaced by the equally useless 2mp macro camera. The selfie camera also remained intact at 16mp.

The battery is 4500mAh in capacity with support for 65W Warp charging. In contrast, the Nord CE has the same capacity but at a lower 30W fast charging.

It will launch with an Oppo-fied OxygenOS 11.3 based on Android 11. It has 5G capabilities, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.

In India, the phone is priced at INR 23,999 for the 6/128 variant while the 8/128 variant is priced at INR 24,999. When directly converted to peso, the prices are Php16.5K and Php17.2K, respectively. We are yet to see an official launch of the phone here in the Philippines.
