The Huawei P50 Pro and the clamshell P50 Pocket is coming to the Philippines 4th February

The latter should be cheaper than the Galaxy Z Flip 3. because it doesn’t have 5G nor Google services, which is still a huge turn-off to some.

A few months ago, Huawei has announced its latest flagship, the Huawei P50 Pro, and in 2022, the company has announced that the clamshell P50 Pocket is a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Flip 3 was coming to the Philippines via VIP interview. Now we have an official notice that the two phones are indeed coming for everyone to buy.

To recall, the Huawei P50 Pro has a 6.6in. curved OLED with 120Hz refresh rate. It has four cameras at the back. There’s the main 50mp sensor complemented with a 40mp B&W sensor for very accurate colour reproduction, a 64mp periscopic telephoto camera, and finally, a 13mp ultrawide. In front is a 13mp selfie camera located at the topmost middle of the phone.

The phone will be powered by a 4G-only variant of the Snapdragon 888 due to US restrictions. There’s an in-display fingerprint scanner, IP68 rating, and 4360mAh battery coupled with 66W fast wired charging. We just hope that the box it comes in comes with a charger because the Chinese retail box does not come with any.

Huawei P50 Pocket

Recalling the P50 Pocket, it is a clamshell phone folding similarly to the Galaxy ZFlip 3. The entire panel is a 6.9in. OLED cover screen resembling a camera bump in case you just need a notification slider.

Like the P50 Pro, it will be using a 4G-only version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset complemented with 8 or 12GB RAM and either 256 or 512GB internal storage. Both phones run HarmonyOS in China though it may run a version of EMUI for the Philippine market.

As far as cameras are concerned, there are three. A 40mp main lens with True-Chroma capabilities, a 13mp ultrawide, and a 32mp ultra-spectrum camera for higher-detailed images. To help in focusing, Huawei has implemented the XD Fusion as well as Laser AF to make focusing faster and less blurry. It has a 10.7mp front camera.

The P50 Pocket has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner instead of an in-display one. It is also charged via USB-C. It will be powered via a 4000mAh battery coupled with 40W fast charging.

Globe has announced that both handsets would also be ready for pre-orders on the same date.
