Features the new Snapdragon 680, an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 678.
Whenever a new processor pops up, the great Realme awakens from its slumber and quickly starts manufacturing a phone with said new processor. The Realme 9i is no different. The phone’s now official in Vietnam so soon it should be available elsewhere.
First off, if you can notice, the design is quite similar to the Realme Neo GT2 as well as the Reno 7. No surprise since both Realme and Oppo are owned by BBK so there would be some design similarities. It is also highly possible that the Realme 9i is a rebadged Reno 7 with different internals.
Powering the phone is the 4G-only Snapdragon 680 chip. It is an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 678 with slightly higher clocks. This chipset is manufactured through a 6nm process so it should be able to handle heat fine especially if it’s fully optimised. This is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Furthermore, there’s a MicroSD card slot that allows you to expand the phone’s storage by up to 128GB.
For the screen, the Realme 9i is equipped with a 6.6in. FHD+ IPS LCD screen with 90Hz adaptive refresh rate. This refresh rate can go as low as 30Hz depending on the phone’s current activity.
Another feature advertised for the Realme 9i is its battery. It’s typical though so we don’t know why even bother. It’s a 5000mAh battery coupled with 33W fast charging. Impressive for a budget phone, but nothing special or mindblowing.
For the cameras, the phone uses a 50mp main camera that’s probably forcibly paired with the 2mp depth and macro sensors that barely do anything practical. The camera setup here is familiar to Realme 8i users. Even the front camera is the same, at 16mp on a dot notch.
Two colours: Black and Blue.
Runs on Android 11 with RealmeUI 2.0 on top. Not sure if it would ever receive at least one major Android upgrade.
