The next Mediatek high-level chipset is coming soon this year! This chipset is dubbed the Mediatek Dimensity 2000 and it has claimed to rival the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 flagship chip!
Ever since Mediatek released the Dimensity line, they have conquered their stigma of having their chipsets on only low-quality or budget handsets and that they heat up or destroy phones easily. In addition, Mediatek also wants to get ahead of that 5G chipset race, like its rival Qualcomm
Smartphones that use this chipset may start from $450. The chipset is based on a 4nm TSMC process. Early leaks told us that this chip will rival the SD870 however recent leaks also told us that it’s far beyond that. The Dimensity 2000 is challenging the SD898 that would be available for flagships next year. Leaks claimed that the GPU of this chipset is far better than the SD898 would have and would save battery power better than the SD888. As a Dimensity chip, it would obviously have multiple 5G bands.
In terms of architecture, the CPU of the Dimensity 2000 will be based on the ARM V9 architecture while the GPU will be based on the G79 architecture.
There is no final say yet, and some sources are conflicting with the leaks, but they all have one thing in common: the chipset will definitely go toe-to-toe with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898, or whatever the name it would be.
