Gaming enhanced, specs buffed. However, that’s only the processor we’re talking about. The rest of the specs are identical to the original.
The ROG Phone 5s has been officially unveiled in its home country of Taiwan. There are two phones in the series: the regular and the Pro variant. There’s no “Ultimate” variant announced here though.
The design is almost identical to the original ROG Phone 5. The phones also feature nearly identical specs as the original: FHD+ screen, 144Hz refresh rate, AMOLED panel, Gorilla Glass Victus and large RAM and storage. The Pro version packs 18GB RAM, making the “ROG Phone 5s Ultimate” unnecessary, hence the reason why it’s not there.
The primary difference lie in the overclocked processor: Instead of the regular SD888, both come with SD888+. The back of the phone of the ROG Phone 5s Pro also feature an RGB-lit logo powered by Asus’ ROG Vision Colour PMOLED display. The regular ROG Phone 5s also sports an RGB-lit logo.
The cameras are also identical to the ROG Phone 5: 64mp Sony IMX686 coupled with a 13mp ultrawide with 125° FOV and a 5mp macro camera. For streaming and video-calling, both phones come with a 24mp selfie snapper
The phone has an optical in-display fingerprint sensor and a headphone jack, just like the original ROG Phone 5. Overall, the specs are identical from the ROG Phone 5 apart from the processor. The performance of this and the original should be close to each other, apart from small benchmark differences, users who bought the ROG Phone 5 should not worry or regret their purchase, as these two phones are merely sidegrades than actual upgrades.
