Ookla: Smart has the fastest FIXED mobile network three times in a row


Smart has the top records again in terms of speed in mobile networks. According to Ookla, Smart has been the fastest mobile network for three years in a row

“This award recognizes Smart’s commitment to delivering fast speeds to [its] customers across the Philippines. With this latest win, Smart has won the Speedtest Award for Fastest Mobile Network in the Philippines three consecutive years in a row,” said Ookla Chief Executive Officer Douglas Suttles in a statement.

The first time Ookla awarded Smart was back in 2018 when it scored 15.06 in speed scores. In that same year, Smart accumulated an average upload speed of 8.11 Mbps (megabits per second, not megaBYTES) and download speed of 17.24 Mbps (again, megaBITS not megaBYTES)

Smart won another award again in 2019 for the SpeedTests award for mobile networks, attaining a score of 17.4. In that year, Smart has an average download speed of 19.62 Mbps and upload speeds of 9.45 Mbps

And finally, last year, Smart won Ookla’s SpeedTest Awards for the third time in a row. Achieving a score of 24.99 and upload speeds of 7.42 Mbps (which is lower than the average in 2019) and download speeds of 20.08 Mbps

In addition, Smart is also the first telco in the Philippines to launch 5G nationwide, even providing 5G-ready SIM Cards, targeting key areas including Metro Manila, and cities in Visayas and Mindanao
