Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G is the first Snapdragon 700 series with 5nm process


Chipsets improve every quarter, and this month, Qualcomm is announcing a new chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G, a 5G chipset with flagship-grade connectivity and 5nm process.

The chipset is designed by Qualcomm and is manufactured by Samsung Foundries. It is an octa-core processor featuring 2x 2.4GHz Cortex A-78 cores and 6x 1.8GHz Cortex A-55 cores. For the GPU, it uses the Adreno 642 GPU which brings 10-bit support for gaming and updateable drivers.

It is also the first Snapdragon 700-series chipset with a triple ISP, making the chipset capable of shooting using three cameras at the same time. The chipset also supports 4K HDR and HDR+ video recording

For AI, the new Snapdragon 780G comes with a 6th-gen AI Engine, Hexagon 770 which boasts a 12 TOPs AI performance. The second generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub integrates a low-power processor for audio processing.

For connectivity, the Snapdragon 780G comes with a Qualcomm X53 5G Modem that boasts fast download speeds of up to 3.3Gbps on sub 6Ghz frequencies. This processor also has Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6900 and supports Wi-Fi 6 and speeds up to 3.6Gbps. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.2 support and Snapdragon Sound enhancement technology.

According to a leak by WinFuture.de, the Snapdragon 780 5G should debut on the 5G version of the Mi 11 Lite, which soon we will find out, probably on the 29th March livestream
