The Infinix Note 12 VIP is out with 120W charging, ON A BUDGET PHONE!

The chipset is disappointing though, and it’s not even 5G. At least put more effort into it and make it the best of the best.

Infinix has been teasing the Note 12 a lot and in India, they have partnered up with Marvel to help them promote the hottest movie right now, Dr. Strange: Multiverse of Madness. Infinix has shown that the Note 12 series can take a step further with its offerings.

Here’s the highest-end Note 12, introducing the Note 12 VIP! The design has been floating around the rumor will for quite a while now and they were pretty accurate about it. VIP because the phone is a more premium Note 12 and is intended to be treated as such.

One of the main highlights of the phone is 120W fast charging and a super-fast 120Hz AMOLED screen. It also has a 108mp triple camera system with a gold-like ring and a rectangular camera bar that reminds us of the Poco M4 Pro, but feels a lot more premium.

Getting onto the specifics, the phone has a 6.7in. FHD+ (2400x1080px) AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate. Disappointingly, the phone is equipped with a Mediatek Helio G96 chipset instead of a 5G chip like the Dimensity 810 or 900, which could be a turn-off to some since the G96 is aging rapidly. We’re speculating that this might cannibalize the Zero 5G, which is the company’s main flagship line. It is paired with 8GB RAM (+5GB Virtual RAM expansion) and 128GB storage expandable via MicroSD.

The cameras are not too impressive either. Most of the development of the Note 12 VIP was focused on its design and battery. The primary camera is 108MP with Laser Autofocus. Alongside it is a 13mp ultrawide and a 2mp depth sensor. Nothing too special here hardware-wise but because Infinix calls this “Cinemagic” (which, surprisingly, Xiaomi didn’t copyright as they used the term as well for the Mi 11T series), there must be improvements with its software. If only we could get a hold of one once it is out. In front is the 16mp selfie camera sitting in the middle of the display.

According to Infinix’s website, the phone could record up to 2K@30fps for the main camera. One of its main features, as we mentioned, is the 120W fast charging that recharges the 4500mAh battery inside. Infinix said this can charge from 0-100% in just 17 minutes, which is absurdly fast. This is also TÜV-Rheinland certified

Boot the phone up and you will be greeted with xOS 10.6 based on Android 12. It has 4G LTE services, Dual-band Wi-Fi, and NFC depending on the market. It also has access to FM Radio.

The phone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and also has DTS Audio, the 3.5mm jack, an X-Axis linear motor for improved haptics, and a VC Cooling system composed of 9 layers of graphene.

We’ll let you know about local availability. The phone is now available in the US for USD 300 (~Php 15.7K) which is a market that we didn’t know Infinix also is available. It comes in Cayenne Gray and Force Black colours.

Released alongside the Note 12 VIP is an updated Note 12 with Helio G96 instead of Helio G88. It also comes with a refreshed design. We’ll discuss it more on a future article.
