ICYMI: The Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION is Now Available for Pre-Order in the Philippines!

While it isn’t the XM7 that Sony fans are surely excited about, it does make sense on a collector’s perspective.

Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION in Black and White

The Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION was announced two weeks ago. While it can be thought of as an upgraded version of the WH-1000XM6, Sony insists that the 1000X THE COLLEXION is more than that. These headsets are designed with extreme attention to detail, refined craftsmanship, and for the collectors, or those who are fond of the likes of the AirPods Max 2. They should not be confused, and are not, the upcoming WH-1000XM7 that Sony fans are excited to hear about, since the WH-1000XM6 has been out for almost a year now. Time flies fast.

In terms of price, it is obviously more expensive than the XM6 (which debuted at PHP 27,999). The Sony 100X THE COLLEXION starts at PHP 36,999. While some consumers and Sony fans might find this price questionable, especially in the value perspective (in Europe, the price of this luxurious headset is around EUR 650), we believe the price is justified as a collector’s product. That is, at least until the WH-1000XM7 (which we may repeat, aren’t what the 1000X THE COLLEXION is trying to be) gets released within this year.

What Reviewers and Audiophiles are Saying About the Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION:

Since it has been two weeks since the headset was released, reviews from the media and audiophiles are out. Fans and critics praised the 1000X THE COLLEXION for what it is, a milestone product for Sony. Although, its main criticisms are, unsurprisingly enough, the increased cost against the WH-1000XM6, which was released in the Philippines for PHP 27,999, as well as the battery life, which feels like a downgrade from the WH-1000XM6.

Sony WH-1000XM6 Colors, including Sandstone

And speaking of the WH-1000XM6, if the price of the limited-edition Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION is not within your budget, worry not. The WH-1000XM6 is still around and it even has an additional colourway called Sandstone. Although, if that isn’t your cup of tea, the other four colours are still available for you to purchase. The new colour completes the earthly theme that the XM6 represents.

1000X THE COLLEXION: Luxurious Design, Made for Comfort

The MDR-1000X (and yes, Sony is still terrible at naming things) set the foundation and philosophy for the future XM series of headphones. They are designed and launched in 2016 as a flagship headset and features an industry-leading AI noise cancellation, comfortable wearability, and Hi-Res Audio support.

Fast forward to 2026, which is exactly 10 years later, the brand is celebrating this milestone with the Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION featuring a metallic headband and buttons, earmuffs made from scuff-resistant faux leather which, according to Sony, took two years to develop, and a sandblasted texture feel. Sony made sure the 1000X THE COLLEXION is aesthetically and meticulously crafted. That way, it feels 100% luxurious.

The Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION is available in white or black and are designed with simplicity and subtlety in mind. The headset comes with a highly visible L and R indicators, designed for those with poor or low vision.

As with the headsets themselves, The Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION comes with a custom bag designed to be also inclusive. This carrying case-like bag features a magnetic closure that closes gently and slowly to reduce the effort when opening and closing. The headset, as mentioned earlier, is priced at PHP 36,999 and will be available for pre-ordering starting May 20 until June 21 at Sony Centres and authorized dealers nationwide. Meanwhile, the Sandstone colour of the WH-1000XM6, would be available for purchase on June 5th.
