Another Ultra Hits the Scene with the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. Comes with Two 200MP Cameras

Are they really trying to bridge the gap between cameras and phones? What a development!

BBK Electronics launched another Ultra phone to their steadily growing lineup. First with Vivo with the Vivo X300 Ultra, and then now, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. This phone features two 200MP cameras and, like many of Oppo’s flagship released previously, is co-engineered with Hasselblad. The phone features four cameras, plus a 3.2MP color sensor that helps with the phone’s post-processing algorithms

If you think having one 200MP camera is excessive, then Oppo takes it up a notch. The primary camera is the very large Sony LYT-901 sensor with f/1.5 aperture. We said “large” because this sensor is measured at 1/1.18 inches. Coincidentally, this is the same camera used for the Vivo X300 ultra albeit with a narrower aperture.

The other 200MP camera is a telephoto lens. Typically, telephoto lenses are capped to around 50MP. This time, Oppo is pushing the limits by using a highly detailed sensor, particularly, the Omnivision OV52A, with 3x optical zoom so you can macro shots at much clearer, almost professional-looking detail. This sensor has 70mm focal length and f/2.2 aperture.

The phone also features two 50MP cameras, one for the ultrawide and the other is a second telephoto sensor (yes, there are two telephoto cameras on this phone). This ultrawide camera has 14mm focal length and features a large 1/1.95″ sensor.

Oppo calls the second telephoto sensor as “10x Ultra-Sensing Optical-Zoom Telephoto”. and features a 230mm focal length. If this jargon does not make a lot of sense for you, then let us simplify. This 50MP telephoto is basically an “Oppo-flavored” periscope camera, allowing you to zoom close to objects without losing details, while the 200MP telephoto one is intended to be used as an upgraded macro camera.

What makes the phone unique is the photography kit that you can separately purchase, called the “Earth Explorer Kit”. This kit comes with a Hasselblad-engineered LUMO 300mm telescope, a uniquely designed case, a set of filters, a convenient carrying case, and a Hasselblad ring. While it doesn’t turn your phone into a less bulky DSLR, nor will it replace mirrorless cameras, it would make the casual photographer’s experience have a much wider field of view.

While its cameras are its main features, the phone still is a flagship and so Oppo did not compromise on other core parts of the Find X9 Ultra. For instance, the phone features a 144Hz AMOLED display with ProXDR features, an Oppo-exclusive feature that makes the display look more vibrant and high-resolution. This display is also pretty bright, with 3600nits max brightness—and also can go pretty dim for those “before-going-to-sleep” browsing at night. It can go as dim as 1nit if you need to. As with many phones released nowadays, the phone also features an IP66/68/69 rating. The three IP ratings are there so users are aware the level of testing done with the phone while being certified.

On top, you can see an orange power button that also functions as a dedicated camera shutter.

Among other features, the phone has a stereo speaker system with Hi-Res Audio, a supersonic fingerprint sensor, and USB-C port.

As the flagshipest of the flagships, the Find X9 Ultra features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a chipset manufactured on a 3nm process and natively supports 4K@120fps and 8K@30fps video. This phone comes with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. Other lower storage options are available as well.

The phone features a large 7050mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC fast charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging. The battery is made of a SiC (silicon-carbon) composite, with a paste made of lithium ion. Silicon-Carbon composite batteries are the main reason why you can frequently find high-capacity batteries in many smartphones nowadays while seemingly fitting them in a cramped space.

Another feature of the phone is the self-integrated Network Boost chip which, according to the brand, allows the phone to maintain and receive signals in areas where signals are weaker, such as in underground tunnels and remote areas.

The phone is available in India and China, and early reviewers, such as UnboxPH, highly suggest the phone will also be available in the Philippines sooner. It is initially priced at CNY 7,499 (~PHP 66K) for the 12/256 variant and goes up to CNY 9,299 (~PHP 81.8K) for the 16/1TB model.

The Explorer Earth Kit Edition comes with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, as well as three items we mentioned earlier. This is priced at a whopping CNY 11,999 (~PHP 105.6K). Meanwhile, a model with satellite services costs CNY 9,499 (~PHP 83.6K). This particular model also comes with 16GB RAM/1TB ROM.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra in Canyon Orange

The phone comes in Canyon Orange, Polar Glacier, and Tundra Umber. As Orange seems to be the trending color this year, Oppo surely does not want to miss out.
