Nubia Brings the Budget-Oriented Nubia5 Series in the Philippines (Complete with a Waifu)

It’s like every gamers’ dream. Real girlfriends? What’s that?

Just a few days ago, Nubia launched the Nubia5 Series, consisting of three budget-oriented phones (and they start at less than PHP 15K, tis the dream). There was a free event held in SM Megamall wherein media partners and curious mallgoers can win awesome goodies and event-exclusive freebies, including the chance to win a free hybrid vehicle from Geely. Just in time for this crazy economic situation we’re having.

The three phones included here are the Nubia Neo5, Nubia Neo5 Pro 5G, and Nubia5 GT 5G. All three phones have 5G services so you can expect smooth and consistent online play for that heart-pumping teamfights and clashes. Also, all three phones come with flashy cyber-like backs and RGB lighting. Interestingly, the “eye” logo at the back reminds us of a certain Republic.

Up until April 3, users who visit the official Nubia TikTok Shop and purchase any of the three phones above can win 5 exclusive freebies. Act fast because only the first 500 orders will be honored the freebies. As per the image, freebies include a handheld fan, a Nubia Ecobag, TWS earbuds, and powerbank. The Nubia5 GT 5G (that’s a mouthful) gets a bluetooth speaker as well.

NUBIA NEO5 5G:

The most affordable of the three, the Neo5 comes in a much more simplistic (yet still eye-catching) design. It comes in Silver and Gold. Both of these units were shown in the live event at SM Megamall last March 30.

The phone comes with a UNISOC T9300 chipset, which is equivalent in performance to the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G which is really good for this price range. It also comes with 8GB RAM, but the downside is that you only get 128GB storage. You barely get three good games with that, somewhat defeating the purpose of a gaming phone. 256GB should really be minimum these days. The phone also has shoulder triggers which should feel natural if you ever used game controllers.

There are two cameras at the back. Well, one technically, since the other is a 2MP depth sensor. The phone comes with a 50MP primary camera. For selfies, the Nubia Neo5 has a 16MP shooter. Standard package for a budget phone like it.

Meanwhile, since you’ll be gaming a lot, it’s expected that the phone should have a long-lasting battery and fast charging so you can get back right into the action quickly. Thankfully, the Nubia Neo5 has an amply sized 6050mAh battery with 45W fast charging. Something POVA fans might be familiar with.

And finally, the glass slab in front called the display. The Nubia Neo5 comes with a FHD+ IPS LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate. This display measures 6.8 inches, and the phone has a candy bar look. Not sharp and squared like, say, most Sony phones or the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Among other things, the phone has a fingerprint scanner, a customizable anime-type avatar and chatbot (so you really can have an AI girlfriend just by buying this), a USB-C port, NFC, and a single speaker. The phone costs PHP 11,999 (8/128). It is purchasable through TikTok Shop where the series is an exclusive.

NUBIA 5 PRO 5G:

The Nubia 5 Pro 5G comes in a sleeker, clean, matte finish. There are two colors again. Silver and Matte Black. Its specs are familiar to the Nubia 3 GT released a year back, and its design resembles it as well, though the Nubia5 Pro comes with a few bells and whistles.

The Nubia 5 Pro 5G uses the same chipset as the Nubia Neo5 5G, the UNISOC T9300. The phone now has double the storage, 256GB, as a gaming phone should. It also now comes with 12GB RAM. In every essence, the phone is just the Neo5 with 12/256 storage. Yes, same specs.

The phone is also available on TikTok Shop for PHP 14,999.

Nubia Neo5 GT 5G:

The actual highlight of the event. The Nubia Neo5 GT comes in a sleek cyber-like design as the others but also has more things to offer. For instance, aside from the shoulder trigger pads, the phone now has a large cooling fan. This phone is designed to be a POCO X8 series competitor in every right.

The RGB Cooling fan is intelligently designed within the camera housing. As it lights up, you can see it in action. In fact, this fan is constantly being highlighted during the event. With that said, the secondary camera now has to be placed elsewhere.

The Nubia Neo5 GT comes with an AMOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate. It also has higher resolution (1.5K) and 4500nits of max brightness. That also means the fingerprint scanner is now located underneath the display instead of the power button.

Going back to those cameras, the Nubia Neo5 GT still has two. The same ones you’d find on the Neo5 and Neo5 Pro. No changes there.

Where there are changes however, is in the chipset. It now uses a much more modern MediaTek Dimensity 7400 which should be more familiar to long-time mobile gamers, unlike the UNISOC ones. The phone now defaults to 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM.

Battery size also remains relatively the same. The Nubia Neo5 GT comes with a 6210mAh battery but charging times are faster, at 80W. The phone also has stereo speakers with DTS:Ultra enhancements, as well as a Z-Axis Linear Motor system for tactile haptics. For colors, there are three: yellow, grey, and white.

The phone is priced at PHP 17,999 and you also can purchase it on TikTok Shop
